Where it all started…

Many of you know me for cozy cottage living, garden DIYs, homemade recipes, and romanticizing the everyday.

But before any of that, there was a little backyard shed named Haven.

What began as a dream tucked away for years eventually became a safe place for me to create, reflect, and heal during a difficult season of life. It became a place where I could slow down, breathe deeply, and rediscover the joy of creating. Inside those tiny walls, I discovered a love of gardening that would completely change the direction of my life.

I started growing herbs and flowers. I spent hours learning, experimenting, and getting my hands dirty. That curiosity grew into a passion, and eventually into the content I share with you today.

Looking back, it’s amazing how one small space led me here…to this beautiful community.

If you’re new, welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.

I’d love to know: What hobby, skill, or passion have you always wanted to learn more about?

❤️ Tracy

P.S. a very special thank you to for giving me my very first full feature article, 3 years ago. You will never know how much I appreciate you making a dream come true. 🩷

Part 3 of my basil series 🌿

If your basil seems droopy, stressed, or just isn’t thriving, try watering from the bottom instead of the top.

Simply place your pot into a shallow tray or saucer with water and let the soil soak it up from below for about 15–20 minutes.

Why I love it:
🌿 encourages stronger roots
🌿 helps prevent mold or yellow leaves
🌿 reduces overwatering
🌿 keeps basil happier in summer heat

Sometimes it’s not your basil…it’s just the watering 😉

Small joys from around the cottage this week 🌿 Vol. 2

A collection of little moments that made this week feel full in the simplest ways.

🌿 Basil buds smell amazing and taste so good!

🐦 Our sweet little visitor who shows up at the feeder like clockwork.

🌸 Fresh finds from the farmer’s market. Color, texture, and the best kind of inspiration. Have big plans for those colorful beans!

🕯️ A favorite candle, a quiet moment, and a slower pace when the day finally winds down.

💐 Fresh flowers on the table make everything feel a little more beautiful. A cozy cottage must for me!

🍽️ A simple dinner, good company, and a full heart.

🌸 Views that never get old.

Life at the lake cottage isn’t always picture-perfect, but it’s filled with these little pieces of magic. Grateful for every one of them.

Part 2 of my basil series 🌿

If your basil is flowering, don’t panic! It’s actually your plant telling you it needs a little haircut. Snipping flower buds encourages fuller plants, bigger leaves, and more basil for all those summer recipes.

And save those blooms…because I have something fun planned for them 👀
