A1 Cook Off’s is here to bring something incredible to the city. We want to continue to stimulate local businesses and highlight local talent in the food industry. Fayetteville is THE next destination for food enthusiasts and tourists. The Black BBQ Cookoff aims to bring both participants and the community together and serves as a platform for veteran chefs to mentor the next generation. It celebrates the rich history of black BBQ cooking while uniting the community through good food and entertainment!
The event is open to EVERYONE of all races and backgrounds. The stipulations of the competition ask that in order to officially enter the competition for placement, that the lead Pitmaster for the team identifies as African American. This is because of the style of cooking that this event centers around, traditional black bbq style cooking. There is no requirement for other members of the bbq team to be African American. Should a team want to participate that does not have an African American lead member, they would not qualify to score in the competition, but are still welcome to join the event.
There are many other competitions that A1 Cook Offs hosts or supports that do not have this requirement for the competition side. The focus is to support and assist ALL cook-offs and food event organizers in any way possible. We are excited about the opportunity to help those who need guidance on setup, organizing or creative ideas.
