It was a night for grudge matches as everything was settled in a Steel Cage this past Saturday Night at the JN Long Cultural Arts Center in Cleburne. APW was back with Metal Mayhem 2 and everything was left in the cage. Five huge matches with 4 Titles on the line.
We started off the night with Mr. Brady Owens once again making his way to the ring with a special announcement. The WSN Board of Directors were in town and met with the APW Board of Directors. Professor Bear announced that Brady Owens was appointed special GM of the night, and we would have a special Guest Referee for the Main Event. Rock Bannon did not care for it at all but was left with no options but to accept the conditions after the Posse attacked Gavin the Blade at Iron Paradise.
We were off to our first match of the night with Mikey B and Big J making their way to the ring. Mikey B had demanded a cage match for the North Texas Title, but they were both shocked to find out that their match would not be against each other, but rather a tag match for a shot at the APW Tag Titles. Jacked and Juicy were then announced and brought to the ring. Mikey B and Big J had a tough time teaming up and King Outlaw and Joe Angelo Garcia took advantage of the situation. In the end Big J and Mikey exchanged words and started to fight each other a bit. Big J left the cage and left Mikey B on his own. King Outlaw and Joey took full advantage of the situation and finished off Mikey B for the win.
It was then announced that due to Big J quitting, he would be stripped of the North Texas Title and the next match would be for the North Texas Title instead of being a number 1 contender match. That Guy Redd Chambers, The American Viking Xander Slade, and Brandon Boom Boom Groom came to the ring for fatal 3 way match. The battle was fierce as all three men had so much to win. Redd tried for a quick escape but was caught. The battle would continue as all 3 men would try to make the escape while their opponents were distracted. Xander would make it tot the top of the cage, but Groom would quickly follow. The two would fight at the top of the cage letting Chambers a chance to join in. Chambers would get pushed down and Groom would loose this footing, leaving Xander the opportunity to make it over the cage and get to the floor. Your winner and NEW APW North Texas Champion is The American Viking Xander Slade!
Up next was the APW Cruiserweight Championship as the Unparalleled Chance Fortune defended his title against the Fallen Angel Seph Anunnaki. There is no love loss between these two and the tension has been building for months. Chance started the attack coming off the top rope and the battle did not let up. Chance had Seph on the defensive to start off. Chance even went to the top of the cage to try to take out Seph. Seph took every opportunity to keep Chance grounded. He worked the legs and eventually looked like he was going to break his leg. The shear pain caused Chance to cry out, but he would not submit. Seph worked him over and eventually did something that may be the end of Chance Fortune. Seph made his way to the cage door and walked out to become your NEW APW Cruiserweight Champion. Chance was left in the cage and had to be carried out. We don’t know the condition of Chance, but we will have more as soon as we know.
We then had the APW Women’s Championship match with Hilda La Muneca defending her title against the Valkyrie of Violence Morgan Mercy. Morgan wanted “her” title back and did everything in her power to beat down Hilda. Hilda would not give up. She was able to finally get some offense in and keep Morgan on her toes. Hilda looked to be climbing out of the cage with Morgan trying to get to her feet. Hilda took a moment and then did a flying cross body off the top of the cage to take out Morgan. She would get the 3 count and the victory. Your winner and still Champion is Hilda La Muneca!
Our final match of the night was for the APW Heavyweight Championship with the Big Presser Levi Lucas defending his title against AXL Savage in what was truly a grudge match. GM Brady Owens did have a surprise for the match as none other than Gavin the Blade was announced as the special guest referee for the match. The match was off and it was all Levi could do to stop AXL from beating him down. Levi did finally start to get the upper hand and had AXL on the defensive. Levi looked poised to defend his title and started rubbing AXL against the cage. The blood running down his face seemed to fire up AXL and he took it to Levi. He began to punish him and the Champion was not in good shape. AXL started to exit the cage and Rock Bannon slammed the door in his face and then entered the cage and started to beat down AXL with his belt buckle and tried to pull Levi out of the cage. AXL made it to his feet and then started to attack Rock to the cheers of the crowd. A last push and AXL would get the pin and be announced the NEW APW Champion. But referee Stone came to the ring to announce that per APW contracts the championship can not change hands unless a licensed referee is officiating the match. Although AXL got the victory, Levi Lucas remained champion.
AXL said he was fine with the finish because he was just looking to get revenge on Rock Bannon and he accomplished that. There will be more APW action after a short break with our APW Hall of Fame Show coming up on April 26th once again in Cleburne, TX.
