Former Buccaneers S Shilo Sanders, who was cut after the preseason last August and remains a free-agent, admits that he has stopped training for the NFL and his pro career is over.
“I just be like working out like just as a human, but like but training and stuff, bro, you know, like getting ready and you have a set day like camp starts and it’s like a whole different type of training. But, it’s like fam, it takes a special kind of guy to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I don’t think there’s any light in my tunnel gang,” Sanders said of resuming a pro football career.
“Bro, I don’t think there’s any light in my tunnel.”
During the 2025 preseason finale, the 26-year-old Sanders was ejected following an unnecessary roughness penalty for punching Bills tight end Zach Davidson after a play, and Buccaneers HC Todd Bowles said the punch was “inexcusable” in the NFL.
“You can’t throw punches in this league. That’s inexcusable. They’re going to get you every time. Gotta grow from that,” Bowles said postgame.
Three days later, Sanders was released by the Bucs.
