It was released in June 2003 as the lead single from Jackson's 2003 compilation album Greatest Hits Volume II. It spent eight non-consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard Hot Country Songs in the summer of 2003, and ranked #4 on the year-end chart. In addition, the song peaked at #17 on the Billboard Hot 100 in September, and ranked #65 on the year-end Hot 100, making it the biggest pop hit for Jackson and the first top forty hit for Buffett since the 1970s.

The song reached number two in Germany, number three in the United Kingdom and number eight in the United States. It is a drug anthem about the consumption of marijuana.
Its title and chorus refer to the practice of splitting the cost of a marijuana purchase and claiming five dollars' worth of it.
The single was certified Platinum by the RIAA on October 31, 1995 and sold one million copies domestically

"Fu-Gee-La" is a song by American hip-hop trio, Fugees, released on December 13, 1995, as the lead single from their second and final album, The Score (1996).
Produced by Salaam Remi, it contains a sample of "If Loving You Is Wrong (I Don't Want to Be Right)" by Ramsey Lewis, while its chorus contains an interpolation of "Ooo La La La" by Teena Marie. Immediately following this is a sample of "Shakiyla (JRH)" by the Poor Righteous Teachers.
Several remixes of the song, including the "Refugee Camp Remix" and the "Sly & Robbie Remix", which features a young Akon, also appear on The Score.
The song peaked at number 29 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the Fugees' highest position on the chart, and peaked at #1 on the Billboard Dance chart. "Fu-Gee-La" has been certified platinum by the RIAA.
In 2016, the Weeknd sampled it on the song "Sidewalks", additionally Jay-Z sampled it on his song "Moonlight" from 4:44.
Trey Songz also interpolates the song on his single "Na Na".

is a song by American R&B/neo soul singer Maxwell, released in July 1996 by Columbia as the second single from his debut album, Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite (1996).
The song was written by Maxwell, G Syier Hawkins Brown and Itaal Shur, and he also produced it.
It peaked at number eight on the US Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, number 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 28 on the UK Singles Chart. The music video was directed by Liz Friedlander.
The B side of the single is "Lock You Up N' Love Fa Days", which was previously unreleased and also written and produced by Musze.
