I was nominated for one of the 100 Successful Women to Know, and if I’m being honest, I opened the email and decided pretty quickly that I wasn’t going to fill it out. A lot of what I’ve done in business (and in life) that I consider accomplishments are things I would never expect praise or recognition for. I do them because my heart needs to.
But then I realized someone took the time to think about me and put my name in a hat, and the least I could do was reflect a little and answer.
Preserving people’s biggest moments for the last 20+ years has been a huge source of joy and inspiration for me. As my career starts to wind down, I find myself thinking about that more. I never really chased money or clout, and honestly “success” in the traditional sense didn’t really matter. You can see my number of followers and see that lol. I chased moments. I chased connection. I chased feeling. I chased gifting people with a way to step back and see the beauty in the in between.
I thank God often for how many times He’s placed me in moments I didn’t really experience growing up. Or in love. It’s taught me connection in a way I might not have learned otherwise, and photography has been a really healing place for me because of that.
I don’t know if that makes me a “successful” business. But I do feel like I’ve won… and it was really nice to reflect on that. Whoever nominated me- thank you ❤️
