🕺💃 A Fabulous Throwback to the 60s! 💃🕺

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting Elizabeth Burness and her History in a Suitcase presentation. With her, we stepped back in time to the bold and beautiful 1960s.

With racks of original garments, colourful prints, and stories stitched into every seam, Elizabeth brought the decade to life. From mod minis to Hippie Chic, all set against the backdrop of social change, the Vietnam War, and black-and-white TV culture, it was a fascinating look at how fashion reflected the times.

One of the highlights was welcoming former Canberra Models of the Year, Jan (1968) and Trish (1973), who joined us to share their memories of modelling during that era. It truly was a trip down memory lane and a lovely reminder of how vibrant the fashion scene was here in Canberra, with schools and local stores hosting regular parades and competitions.

Elizabeth’s passion for vintage fashion really shone through. Her presentations are never just about clothes. They're about craftsmanship, culture and connection. From the colour palettes and popular fabrics to the way garments were constructed, every piece had a story to tell.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and a special thanks to Jenny Horsfield for helping bring the event to life. We hope you enjoyed your Devonshire Tea and left feeling inspired.

✨ We loved every moment of bringing festive cheer to Tuggeranong Homestead last month for our annual Christmas in July event.

With our roaring fireplace keeping everyone cozy, we served a mouthwatering Christmas buffet: juicy seasoned roast turkey, marinated maple-orange smoked ham (yes, really!), all the traditional trimmings, and, to top it off, our famous Homestead brandy-infused plum pudding with zesty lemon custard.

What made the night extra special? The people. We welcomed couples, friends, and folks from across the region who came together as strangers and left as new friends. It was a beautiful evening of shared laughs, great food, and warm memories, the kind of night that reminds us what hosting is all about.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for lunch and dinner, and to those who texted us afterward to say how much they enjoyed it, you made our week! 🥰

📣 Conference Goals Met (and Stomachs Full!) 📝🍽️

We recently hosted a few day and night conferences at Tuggeranong Homestead, and it was the perfect reminder that yes we do conferences!

From the moment our guests arrived, they were greeted with fresh tea, coffee, homemade biscuits and seasonal fruit, followed by our famous warm scones with jam and cream for morning tea. 🎉 Catie’s Roaring 30th! 🎉

We had an absolute blast hosting Catie’s 30th birthday at Tuggeranong Homestead, complete with a 1920s twist and a self-hosted murder mystery that brought the house down (in the best way).

The Homestead came alive with feathers, flappers, and fabulous fun. Laughter echoed through every room, with dramatic gasps and joyful screams as guests pieced together clues and embraced the chaos of the night. From vintage props to themed outfits, this party was full of energy and unforgettable moments.

Guests enjoyed a delicious buffet-style menu with two mains and three sides, all served alongside drinks from the bar. The party flowed through our heritage rooms, with every corner setting the stage for a night of glamour, mystery and fun.

✨ One of the best parts? Catie and her guests had the entire venue to themselves.
