It's the same with every single Christian I meet. Are we ALL feeling this way??
Being single in our modern dating landscape is difficult. Dating apps have a 90% fail rate. And then you add "Christian" into the mix, and it seems impossible. I would not be surprised if the fail rate became 100% for singles who are looking for a Christian partner on the apps.
We have two problems here.
1) Married Christians seem to believe that we have it easier now. But if you've been single in the last 5 years you know this isn't true. For anyone. Let alone CHRISTIAN singles. Because of the seemingly easy apps, people who aren't in the dating scene believe that we have it easy.
2) There are limited ways to meet people in-person. The apps, social media and Covid have all changed us. They've made us shy away from true interaction. We're stuck to screens, afraid of eye contact and chatting with strangers.
Churches seem to have forgotten about us singles. Leadership tends to be older and married, so it feels like they aren't aware of the struggles we currently have. But yet there's still a big importance, big emphasis, put on dating Christians, "equally yoked", marrying Christians, raising children in a Christian home. But how to we GET there?
There are youth groups, young adults, events for marriage, support for divorcees...but how do we go from young adults to marriage? What happens in between?? How do we GET to marriage if we don't even know who is single in our church?
I started Mint.Dating Christian Singles for all of these reasons. Christian singles need help meeting. Going to church every Sunday, even developing a Christian community, isn't enough to meet multiple singles and possibly find a good match. We need purposeful help.
Mint.Dating has monthly events for Christian singles in Nanaimo and the Comox Valley. Fun events to help us mingle with a great group of singles, make new friends, create a community of people that UNDERSTAND what dating is currently like as a Christian. And, hopefully, help us find our *special person*.
Please help us spread the word! More posts to come.
