Grief’s journey is a long one,
A road that bends through years,
Paved with quiet memories
And washed by silent tears.
Some days the path is heavy,
Each step a weight to bear,
Echoes of a voice once loved
Still whisper in the air.
Yet slowly dawn keeps breaking,
Soft light through shadows streams,
And love, though changed by absence,
Still walks within our dreams.
For grief is love still travelling
Where those we lost have gone—
A tender, aching pilgrimage
The heart keeps walking on. 💔✨

Maureen (Laura’s Mum) gained her wings 36 years ago tonight both together again..
All my Love Duncan x + x🌹

Last thing at night
send them love,
and with the dawn more again.
for the bonds will never be broken,
and that love will remind you...
they still exist.....
You may not remember what they said,
but you will always remember how they made you feel x + x 💖

It was the night before Christmas and Santa was busy making his rounds
He was light on his feet making sure he didn't make a sound.

But he took notice that some homes didn't have that Christmas Glee.
so he decided to stop because he thought that just can't be.

He crept in a Mum/Dads bedroom and stopped dead in his steps, as he saw a little angel hugging his Mum/Dad as they slept

The little angel looked up and cried " oh Santa you are finally here!!
I've been waiting for you to help me let Mummy/Daddy know I am near".

Santa picked up the wee angel and asked him " What can I do? I'm just a simple toy maker I can't make your mummy/Daddys dreams come true".

So the two of them sat and they sat for a while until the tiny angel jumped up and screamed with a smile.
"let's leave them a sign a beautiful sign from above,
let them know it's from me sent from heaven with love"

So Santa dug and he dug deep, in that big glorious bag that was filled with lots of treats .

He pulled out a beautiful white feather that look like it was made out of snow.
And he thought such a beautiful sign that only a grieving parent would know.

He placed it on the nightstand and kissed the angel on his head.
Then placed him next to his mum/Dad as they slumbered in bed.

I think I'll stay here with Mummy/Daddy and visit in there dreams tonight,
They miss me dearly and need to know I'm all right.

Santa made his way to his sled, And wiped a tear from his eye.
He fell to his knees and managed to cry.

Merry Christmas to all the grieving Parents across this big land.
And let it be known your angels are with you holding your hands....” ###x

There's a robin on my fence today,
A feather by my feet
A heart-shaped leaf that blows along
Beside me down the street

Your song played on the radio
This morning in the car
And just last night I could've sworn
I saw a shooting star

The sun and rain are dancing
Making rainbows in the sky
And on the slightest breeze I watch
A butterfly go by

And people might say these are not
The signs I know they are
That it is just coincidence
Your song played in the car

That it is just the sky
And it is just the birds and breeze
A little windy weather
And the nature of the trees

But there is nothing little
About the way they make me feel
The sense of peace they carry
Is both comforting and real

Because it's just one song
And just one butterfly and bird
Just one star and just one leaf
In one enormous world

And so the probability
Of noticing it all
Is close to nearly nothing;
Almost infinitely small

And that is how I know
That when that leaf floats into view
It isn't a coincidence,
But a sign of love from you

So keep on shooting stars to me,
Keep playing me your song
Whilst you dance atop the rainbows
And blow heart-shaped leaves along

Yes, keep on sending signs my love
I'll always look around
For your butterflies on breezes
And your feathers on the ground

Don't envy a man his medals, all those ribbons on his chest,
He did not try to get them, they're not there at his request,
They were earned in stinking hell holes, where no man would like to go,
Or in cold and wintry places, where there's only ice and snow.
He did not know he earned them, till they were awarded at parade,
They were bright when he first got them, but in time the colours fade,
He was told he had to wear them, and to wear them all with pride,
But when the memories come to haunt him, those same medals make him hide.
Cause those medals will not bring back, all those brothers he left behind,
And he would trade them all forever, for a little peace of mind.
So don't envy a man his medals, you don't want to take his place,
Thinking back to long gone battles, and meeting dead friends face to face.

You Don’t Just Lose Someone Once

You lose them over and over,
sometimes many times a day.
When the loss, momentarily forgotten,
creeps up,
and attacks you from behind.
Fresh waves of grief as the realisation hits home,
they are gone.
Again.
You don’t just lose someone once,
you lose them every time you open your eyes to a new dawn,
and as you awaken,
so does your memory,
so does the jolting bolt of lightning that rips into your heart,
they are gone.
Again.
Losing someone is a journey,
not a one-off.
There is no end to the loss,
there is only a learned skill on how to stay afloat,
when it washes over.
Be kind to those who are sailing this stormy sea,
they have a journey ahead of them,
and a daily shock to the system each time they realise,
they are gone,
Again.
You don’t just lose someone once,
you lose them every day,
for a lifetime 💞
