Wishing everybody at The Summer Show a fantastic opening night tonight. The West Cliff Theatre put on a summer variety show on a field in Clacton in 1894 (the West Cliff Gardens), and the theatre was born. The actual theatre was built bit by bit and some of the biggest stars in the country have graced their stage. 130 years later, The Summer Show is still a feature in their programme, making it the longest running summer variety show in the world!!! Go and support it. Please!

Colchester Has Talent Returns for 2025!

My friends at KAT Marketing are very excited to announce the return of Colchester Has Talent, a dynamic talent competition open to individuals aged 8 to 16. Here’s a golden opportunity chance to showcase your extraordinary abilities in front of a live audience in our vibrant city centre – with the winner being given the honour of performing as part of the city’s Christmas Lights Celebration later this year.

Join us and our special guest judges at Popina Courtyard in Lion Walk Shopping Centre for this thrilling showcase of talent! Competition heats will take place on Sunday afternoons throughout August, commencing on 10th August (2-5pm) and 17th August (2-5pm), ahead of the grand final on Saturday 13th September (2-5pm).

Competition categories include singing, dancing, magic, comedy, musical instruments, sport skills… any unique talent that will captivate the audience!
Want to get involved and have your time to shine in the Colchester spotlight?

Interested contestants should register by entering their details on the entry form at www.lionwalkcourtyard.com/colchester-has-talent

The deadline for submission of entries is 12pm on 1st August; our panel of judges will review the submissions and notify the selected contestants and advise the date/time of their performance in the heats.
