Join us for the very first Grassroots Garbage Get Down on August 19th! We're looking forward to gathering with our friends, new faces, and combining our efforts to help keep these public areas clean and safe for all of us to enjoy the greater outdoors area of East Tennessee!

Following the clean up, there will be Yoga, Live Music, and community hangs out on the point. Camping is optional for those who would like, pack it in & pack it out, set up on the banks of the lake and settle into the night with us!

We are getting close to the very first "Grassroots Garbage Get Down"!
Many of you know where "the point" is at The Allensville Rd TVA Public land in Sevierville. We are meeting in the early part of the day and handing out bags for trash clean up at that parking lot. We will take all the trash bags we get to the landfill. There are trails and many nooks and crannies to explore and simultaneously clean up. You can clean from kayak or boat as well.
Then music will start on the point, (you can walk a 1/2 mile trail or boat there) in the early afternoon until late that night, from very awesome local artists. We encourage people to bring drinks or snacks for themselves as it will be a hot August day. You can swim or camp here totally free. It is public land. This is all at your own risk and this a renegade assembly but we will do some good and have a good time. To get more info please register (link in comments)!

Yoga Central invites you to take part in their first First Friday Live Music + Yoga Social on August 4th from 7-9pm at their studio located at 213 E Fifth Avenue Knoxville, TN. This special event is a vinyasa class with an amazing musical guest once a month performing live as you are guided through breath and movement! Settle into your weekend with a night of rhythm and flow and enjoy social hangs, dancing, and live music following class. Craft makers and artisans welcome! Savannah Robertson is known for her authentic, non-judgmental teaching style and compassion-centered philosophy. Cornflower’s intention is to channel music that inspires, empowers, and uplifts people into presence and connection with themselves and to each other, creating a community of inspired individuals living their purpose. Cornflower’s ‘vocal instrumentation’ brings you into the moment, using ‘beatboxing’ to set your body in motion to his soaring melodies and atmospheric grooves that are looped right before your eyes.

We are stoked to present to you our first annual Grassroots Garbage Get Down - a community service project to beautify and clean up public lands areas in East Tennessee.

Together with Rossdafareye, the Little Pigeon Pirate Crew, and support from local artists and volunteers our goal is to help cultivate community through service.

Grassroots Garbage Get Down aims to support TENNGreen Land Conservancy efforts to protect, care for, and connect people with Tennessee’s natural world by providing meaningful outdoor experiences, establishing conservation easements, supporting restoration efforts, and acquiring (or assisting in the acquisition of) privately-held land.

Entrepreneur Colby Baker is an accomplished event curator - project manager, digital creator, and marketing specialist. Highlighting these skills to seek out independent opportunities in the local community and through digital networks.

After leaving his career in logistics with the Coca-Cola Company in 2016, Colby set out on a mission to pursue life and turn dreams into reality. First, moving cross country to Copper Mountain, CO to enjoy the thrills and life as a "ski bum" while seeking out and connecting with like minded individuals to form a better understanding of how life should be enjoyed. The simple pleasures of doing what you love and sharing that love in community.

During this time away from his hometown of Knoxville, TN, Colby endured the pain of death with the passing of his grandmother, (Nini as they called her - Joyce Garland) in 2017, while his father (Richard Baker), lost the gross battle with cancer in 2018. The result was an overwhelming need to return back to the mountains of East Tennessee to be closer to his immediate family. Returning back to the South and finding himself in Johnson City, TN Colby continued to pursue his passions for snowboarding, music, and life.

Most recently, Colby served as the event manager for a rafting, adventure campground, and resort facility. Booking local live music at their riverside taphouse, planning and managing their summer music festivals, collaborating with outside agencies to host different community events and fundraisers, and providing services for digital content and marketing.

Through a decade of work in multiple fields including: logistics, hospitality, administrative, and management positions, Colby looks to the future to combine these skills and offer his services as an independent agent - curator through Colby & Co Creations by providing his services for project management, digital content creation, web-page design, marketing, and social media. He believes in creating a sustainable life by working together in harmony and appreciating the diverse skills and lifestyles of all peoples to create a more peaceful and enjoyable future for all.
