I love when my couples opt to rent more decorative seating for their reception! It’s such a great way to further style and elevate your wedding! Though most higher end and boutique venues have more specialty in-house rentals, not all do. A great way to help you narrow down your venue search is to ask what rentals they have available and let that be a factor in your decision!

One of my FAVORITE seating charts from this last season! I LOVED the thoughtful nature of this seating chart concept by incorporating handwritten notes from the couple. What a wonderful way to make your guests feel like such a special part of your day! Let’s see more of this in 2024!

Seven years ago we were trapped in traffic on Highway 17 in an absolute downpour trying to make it to San Francisco City Hall for our ceremony.

We almost didn’t make it in time. I’m not even kidding.

This day seven years ago was an absolute adventure and it’s been an adventure ever since (in the best way)!

Thank you for marrying me and making me happier and more fulfilled than I ever thought possible. 💞 Happy Anniversary my love!

My couples are SUCH a dream! I may or may not (but definitely did) tear up reading this sweet review that came in this morning:

“Autumn epitomizes the “dream” wedding vendor - talented, professional, prompt, detail oriented, flexible, and wholeheartedly devoted to producing the best work. I found that many other florists had a very formulaic approach to booking weddings, and most of the generic estimates I received seemed to just focus and highlight the limitations and challenges of working within our budget. Autumn, unlike many in her profession, invested the time in writing a custom, detailed proposal, carefully crafting and curating a very plausible and creative way to bring our vision to life and well within our intended budget. Once I saw how meticulous Autumn was, before even being booked, I was immediately motivated and excited to reallocate other funds into our floral budget because for the first time in the wedding planning process, it felt totally worth it. Also surprisingly unique was the feeling that a vendor was truly excited and grateful to work wit us, whereas others seemed to overextend themselves, to a point that I often felt like I would be burdening them by asking them to “take on” on our wedding or squeeze us into their calendar. With Autumn, it felt like full on white glove service. She continued to impress throughout the entire wedding planning process and left both myself and my wedding planner very impressed and fully confirmed that we made the best decision booking her. My wedding day florals were an absolute dream come true. Autumn and her team worked tirelessly to ensure that the whole day went off without a hitch- and it did! Autumn’s team was able to strategically orchestrate and repurpose florals from multiple corners of our massive venue, working tirelessly behind the scenes all day. Autumn went above and beyond to help me repurpose our wedding day florals for the remainder of our wedding weekend, adorning 2 additional wedding events - the flowers did not budge and were thoroughly enjoyed. Needless to say, my personal experience working with Autumn was wonderful and I couldn’t sing her praises any louder.”

Today’s novel:

The beginning of off-season is the perfect time to evaluate the last year of weddings, update and streamline systems, and generate new content for the season to come! It’s also the best time to prepare for growth, contraction, a pivot, or restructuring- whatever that looks like for you heading into the next year.

For me, during and since the pandemic, business brought some unintended changes, stretching our primary service area further and further away from home base as the industry reopened and bounced back. While I rolled with it for a couple of years when things were unpredictable- it stretched me thinner than I liked and left me perpetually exhausted and in a worse state of mind as a result.

Traveling all over the state may sound exciting to some- maybe that’s your thing! For a homebody like me though, routinely being on the road, at opposite ends of the state week to week, and sleeping in a strange place just isn’t my jam. I love spending time with my family, and being in my garden growing specialty flowers for my couples- constant travel leaves little time for those things.

The goal for 2023 and 2024 has been and will continue to be focusing on weddings primarily around the South Bay and Central Coast. We will still do some traveling as we did before Covid, just much (much) less than these recent years!

I think social media and the business-to-business advertisement inadvertently pressures us into thinking it’s normal or we *should* want to be traveling everywhere all the time… after all, that’s what all of the industry leaders do right?

It’s important to remind ourselves that while that may work for others, that may not be what’s best or healthiest for us. Maybe it’s not suited to your personality, and that’s OK. Maybe you would rather be with your family than on the road, too! It doesn’t make you less of a person, nor does it disqualify you in any way. Sometimes the bravest thing to do is staying exactly where you are in this moment, and not searching for more.

So whatever 2024 looks like for you in terms of changes or growth, I hope you are brave enough to choose YOU, even if it’s not “an aesthetic.”💞

This is a milestone. I can’t help but tear up when watching the film of this editorial at @sunstonewinery. If you told the girl that boldly quit her 9-5 after six months of starting the business she was so in love with, that she’d one day be working at the top wedding venues in the country, she would’ve laughed in your face and went back to responding to ridiculously underpaid inquiries. If you told her she’d find success in a creative industry after years of being pushed to pursue something more “reliable” and being made to believe she didn’t have a creative bone her body, she would have scoffed in disbelief. If you told that girl that spent nights curled up under a window, writing what she believed to be the next great novel by moonlight, that this path would eventually give her the freedom and courage to pursue the writing career she always wanted… she would have dropped to her knees and cried. This woman, with that little girl still in her heart, can’t believe what a gift this life is, and how precious every opportunity is that brought me to this point. I’m so incredibly grateful for the people that have supported and encouraged me all this years in what may have seemed at the time, like a reckless pursuit. To my dad @thesilverwave67- for seeing what I couldn’t always see in myself and never letting me believe there was anything I couldn’t achieve. To my husband @stevenlreid- for always believing in me and providing us with the stability to accomplish this and more. To my best friends- @lookingthroughsea, @haileygaultphoto, @berkmenphoto- for their sage counsel, constant cheerleading, and yelling at me to take a break. It was a GORGEOUS day in the Santa Ynez Valley today for our editorial at @sunstonewinery with the lovely @katieyorkphoto. I can’t wait to share some of the photos of what we created together. It was pure magic.✨ Nearly 8 hours of driving and 3 hours of on site designing today, but it was SO worth it. Wedding #2 of this weekend for J+E! It’s been such a great close out to two weddings that were originally scheduled for last year. ✨So wonderful to have worked with two fantastic couples that have hung in there despite the chaos of last year.
