Todays special floral tribute featured a basket woven from Terracedale grown Harakeke paired with beautiful, lush red roses & native fern. It has been a long time since I’ve woven a Kono (gathering basket) but it’s touches like this that makes tributes a bit more personalised and special.

It’s always an honour to be asked to create a floral tribute to celebrate a life.
This special piece was a floral colour wheel created for a special artist which was surrounded by all of her incredible works in a gallery.

This colourful design also incorporates the very last of our farm grown sunflowers, which was a special way to finish & celebrate this wonderful crop 🌻

Behind the scenes in the Sunflower paddock, yes things can get a bit dry up here in all of this summer heat & wind.
Did you know that the roots on large, field grown sunflowers can reach more than 6 feet deep, which explains why they still look so happy & healthy while the top of the soil is a bit dry.
While we do irrigate the vines frequently at the farm, we leave this paddock of sunnies up to Mother Nature & all of the bees 🐝

This will be the last week for sunnies as the rest will be left to go to seed, stock feed and mulched back into the ground 🌻
