We, the residents of QAMC HOSTEL are writing to express our deep concern and distress regarding the lack of essential facilities in our hostel, particularly during this crucial examination period. The prevailing conditions are severely impacting our ability to prepare and perform optimally in our upcoming exams.
Firstly, we are experiencing extreme loadshedding, resulting in frequent and prolonged power outages. It is due to the ongoing work in thalassemia centre, due to which they cut out thé electricity of our hostel for 6-8hours. This lack of electricity not only plunges us into darkness but also disrupts our study schedule. Without proper lighting, we are unable to study after dusk, significantly reducing our study hours. Additionally, heaters become useless during power cuts, leaving us to bear the bone-chilling cold that prevails around this time of year. The current temperature of 7-8 degrees Celsius is simply unbearable without heating, making it incredibly difficult to focus on studies.
Secondly, the absence of functioning geysers means we have no access to hot water for basic necessities like bathing and washing clothes. This lack of hot water, especially in this cold weather, is not only uncomfortable but also poses hygiene concerns.
These inadequate living conditions are seriously jeopardizing our academic performance. The constant anxiety and discomfort caused by the lack of light, heating, and hot water makes it incredibly challenging to concentrate on studies. Our ability to prepare effectively and perform well in our examinations is under immense threat.
We understand that unforeseen circumstances can sometimes disrupt routine services. However, considering the critical importance of this exam period, we urge you to take immediate action to address these issues. We request that you:
Prioritize and ensure uninterrupted power supply to the hostel during study hours and throughout the night.
Arrange for prompt repair or replacement of malfunctioning geysers to provide access to hot water.
Explore alternative heating solutions to supplement heaters that rely on electricity in the hostels as well as in examination centres
