LazerGazer is here to spin decks from Damascus/Amsterdam

LazerGazer, the alias of the artist Hala Namer, has been steadily carving out a place for herself in the underground club scene and beyond. As the former programmer of Kanaal40 and a current resident at Garage Noord, she has become a key figure in Amsterdam’s dynamic nightlife, playing an active role in shaping the city's musical landscape and supporting numerous local initiatives. Known for her distinct blend of contemporary club music, LazerGazer effortlessly merges a wide range of sounds, oscillating between bass, percussion, breaks, electro, and countless other subgenres. Her ability to experiment with these influences, while maintaining a unique sense of flow, defines her approach. Through her adaptability and dynamic, eclectic selections, she brings an unpredictable yet cohesive energy to her sets, creating immersive soundscapes that resonate with both niche audiences and broader crowds alike.

Jad Atoui is here to perform from Beirut

Jad is a sound artist and improviser, explores various sonic creative practices including live performance, composition, installations, and workshops. His focus on electronic and electro-acoustic music is shaped by his experiences in New York's avant-garde scene, where he acquired improvisational techniques while working at The Stone and The Guggenheim Museum.

He has worked and performed alongside musicians such as John Zorn, Laurie Anderson, Pauline Oliveros, Tarek Atoui and Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe. Atoui has created commissioned sound compositions for ensembles such as Yarn/Wire and Distractfold Ensemble.

Atoui is also dedicated to amplifying material and creating instruments within the realms of installation art, commissioned compositions, and educational workshops. His work has been featured at institutions including E-flux, Cafe Oto, Flag Foundation, Sharjah Art Foundation, The Stone, and Beirut Art Center. Alongside his solo work, he has released music in various collaborations, including with Anthony
Sahyoun and Sandy Chamoun as Ghadr, and with Tarek Atoui, Chuck Bettis and Tarek Atoui
and others.

Renata is here to spin decks from Beirut.

Renata is a DJ and live performer based. Her art draws vision and inspiration from the quirky edges of sound, taking shape as a manifestation of dissent through her ever evolving modus operandi. Her approach sees her grow beyond styles and genres, with narratives speaking truth
to her beliefs. Renata has been performing since 2010 in renowned stages globally. During her stint in London in 2012, she branched out through residencies within the local scene alongside launching her own series under “The Calling” banner. She then returned to Beirut in 2016 and joined the Frequent Defect team as a co-director, which included venue management and program curation, and with whom she shared a similar drive to address collective issues through multidisciplinary art forms.

We’re beyond delighted to have Objekt with us on the 22nd of May at Vespers as we fundraise for Palestine, and bring together collectives from the region.

Objekt is TJ Hertz, a producer and DJ living in Berlin. Born in Tokyo to British-American and Filipino parents, Hertz grew up in Belgium and the UK before settling in Berlin in 2009. He first became known for head-turning club records, beginning with the self-released stamped whitelabel 12”s Objekt #1 and #2 in 2011, and following these up with remixes for Radiohead and SBTRKT and releases on influential dance music labels such as Hessle Audio. His club output quickly garnered critical acclaim and support from the likes of Aphex Twin and Autechre. Shocking out to the disassembled dubstep contortions of "Cactus" and “Unglued”, the juddering mindmelt of "Agnes Demise", or IDM headturner “Ganzfeld” became a familiar experience for a generation of open-minded clubgoers.
