Courting is typically a 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒓 for young boys and girls to get to know one another without any hanky-panky involved because of conservative ideas. Suitors, or interested men, are free to "send their regards," shower women with presents over time, and go on dates under a chaperone's watchful eye. Of course, a large portion of the younger generation is eager to break away from these outdated customs, but middle-class families nevertheless frequently engage in the custom.

The 𝑩𝒂𝒈𝒐𝒃𝒐 𝑻𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒆 is one of the largest indigenous groups in the country. The Bagobo live in the very mountainous region between the upper Pulangi and Davao rivers on Mindanao in the Philippines, whereas the coastal Bagobo once lived in the hills south and east of Mount Apo. The Bagobo are considered the 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬, heavily embroidering their abaca clothing with beads and stitchwork. They also produce fine metal crafts, working in brass, bronze, and iron, and are known for their betel boxes. The Bagobos bizarre beautifying procedure requires their members who have reached the age of puberty to have their teeth filed and blackened. It is a 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧 𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 for every young Bagobo. To file the teeth, the candidate must place his head against the operator and grip a stick of wood between his teeth. Each tooth is then filed, leaving only the stump. After the sharpening, the teeth are blackened using either a deposit formed through a smoke coming from a charring bamboo or a powder known as tapEl produced by the lamod tree. During the entire duration of the treatment, the candidate is not allowed to drink water or eat sour food to avoid having teeth with poor color.

It predates the Spanish colonization of the Philippines and was 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬. The script consists of characters that represent syllables, rather than individual letters and it was primarily used for personal writings, poetry, and incised on bamboo, metal, and bark. Today Baybayin is a popular subject in contemporary Philippine art and is used as a symbol of Philippine cultural identity.

𝑳𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝑫𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒚 is recognized as a national treasure for her contribution to Philippine culture and art. The Gawad Manlilikha ng Bayan was conferred upon her in 1998. The 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓’𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐤 she designed and created. Memories from the distant past were revivified by her nimble fingers. Her designs, bankiring (hair), kabangi (butterfly), bulinglangit (clouds), and the mountains and streams of Lake Sebu occupied the spaces of the textile, yearning to be remembered.

In the Philippines, you can hear Christmas music and jingles playing in restaurants and malls as early as August. The atmosphere shifts to one of celebration as many people go shopping and are upbeat. Celebrations of Christmas continue throughout the first or second week of January.

The reason for this can be found in the 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲-𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞, where Christmas is a time when families get together. Filipinos are supposed to celebrate Christmas with their relatives, frequently returning to their individual hometowns. The lengthy Christmas season is a hope for families to reunite since many Filipinos live abroad as immigrants or foreign employees as well as those who work in other places.
