On behalf of Baksa District Sports Association, we would like to inform all young footballers and their guardians that the Sports Authority of India (SAI), NCoE Guwahati is organizing a Preliminary Selection Trial.

⚠ Important Note: No fees will be charged at any stage for participation in the selection trial.

Today (18th May, 2026), a delegation of the Baksa District Sports Association held a meeting with Hon’ble Executive Member, Sjt. Augustus Tigga Sir, at his residence.

During the meeting, the delegation briefed him about the upcoming Baksa District Athletics Meet – 2026, which is scheduled to be held at Doomni on 30th and 31st May 2026. The Hon’ble EM expressed his appreciation for the initiative and kindly assured his full support and cooperation for the successful conduct of the event.

The discussion was constructive and encouraging, during which various upcoming sports activities and future plans of the Association were also shared. The Hon’ble EM Sir showed keen interest and extended his encouragement towards the promotion and development of sports in the district.

The delegation team comprised Shri Pankaj Ram Baro, General Secretary; Shri Bichtra Brahma, Organising Secretary; Shri Anil Linda, Athletics Secretary; and Shri Manjit Roy, Handball Secretary.

The Baksa District Sports Association expresses its sincere gratitude to Hon’ble EM Sjt. Augustus Tigga Sir for his valuable time, kind support, and continuous encouragement.

💔 With Deep Sorrow 💔

It is with profound grief that we mourn the sad demise of Late Diganto Kr. Baro Sir, the Founder General Secretary of the Baksa District Sports Association. His passing has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of the entire Baksa District sports family.

Sir dedicated his entire life to the growth and development of sports in Baksa District. He began his journey in sports administration as Secretary of B.A.C. Sports Association, Nalbari District Committee in 1996, then served as Secretary of Baksa District Sports Association (Ad-Hoc Committee) in 2003, and on 6th March 2004, he became the Founder General Secretary of the Baksa District Sports Association. He served the Association as General Secretary for four terms, working tirelessly with vision, dedication, and selfless service to strengthen sports in the district.

Under his visionary guidance, the Baksa District Sports Association produced numerous International, National, and State-level players. He also successfully organized countless Inter-District tournaments and championships, leaving a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire generations of athletes, officials, and sports lovers.

Sir was not just a leader, but a mentor, guide, and inspiration to countless players, officials, and administrators. His wisdom, encouragement, and dedication shaped the present and future of sports in Baksa District. His contributions, vision, and selfless service will always remain alive in our hearts.

The Baksa District Sports Association extends its heartfelt condolences to his family and prays for eternal peace for his noble soul. His legacy and contributions to sports will always be cherished, remembered, and honored by all.
