D + T πŸ’

Nine years ago, D and T were two people with completely separate lives. No reason to know each other existed.

Then came a night out. D gathered every bit of courage he had to ask for her number. She gave it. He texted. And she did nothing with it.

Then one day, a stranger called T's name across a busy road. Confused, she paused, until he crossed over with one simple request: please reply to his friend, D.

Of all the streets, all the moments that might have passed unnoticed, their paths crossed again. And this time, she replied.

Eight years later, D chose Paris. He chose the Eiffel Tower. He chose his moment. The first proposal didn't go quite to plan, so the next day he tried again, on the rooftops of Paris, in the rain, just to say the words he'd meant to say the first time.

This week, surrounded by friends and family who flew in from Singapore, D and T stood at the arch at Hoiana, Hoi An, and made it all official.

Congratulations, D and T. It was an absolute honour to be your celebrant.

Childhood sweethearts from Grade 8. And they still find new things to laugh about. And we laughed a lot.

S+B's intimate wedding was a family elope-moon. It was such a treat to see them envoy every second of their beautiful day. Nothing scripted - even the ceremony rolled off track. Bloody funny. Just love and fun.

Here's what they said the next day:

Once again, just wanted to say thank you for the amazing day and the days leading up to it. Could not of done it without you xox

These two cuties are lovely.

K+B live in Australia - though they're avid travellers. They chose Vietnam because B finally plucked up the courage to pop the question to a very unsuspecting K in Halong Bay last year. He'd tried on two previous occasions, and it didn't feel right. (The reasons are funny, but not for this post.)

It was a bloody hot day, and everyone felt like a sweaty mess (see B in the first shot trying to adjust his suit jacket). It didn't stop the fun, though. It was very casual and friendly, with a cocktail-hour feel as friends and family gathered from the world over. From Zimbabwe to Japan and everywhere in between "world over".

The ceremony included a san san sudo ceremony - paying homage to K's Japanese heritage. The family dog made an appearance as the best men walked the aisle.

K's dad was very emotional when he walked K down the aisle.

What followed was an evening where everyone could let their hair down and keep the good vibes flowing.

It was a good, honest celebration of two people with zero bad energy - anywhere.

Thanks for inviting me. It was a privilege.

This beach setting for weddings at Banyan Tree Lang Co is very romantic. It reminds me of the beach in the movie "From Here to Eternity"

We're going backwards for today's wedding update :)

J+K wanted the full Vietnam experience for their elopement. J's father was born in Vietnam and they traveled for over 24 hours to explore his country from top to bottom.

They chose the River Retreat Elopement because all they wanted to do was turn up and let us handle the rest. The ceremony was deeply personal for them. And getting photos in the rice paddies and the Old Town with the locals and the food culture was essential.

The shots start after the wedding and work their way back to the ceremony. It was very cool to help them from their initial call discussing their wedding options, the photos they wanted and whether they were actually possible.

The locals thought it was delightful when they turned up in full wedding attire, asking for beer and noodles.

Thank you again to and for the stunning pics.

As usual produced the glamour, and curated the divine decor and set up for us.

Knock. Knock. It's your 3 am hair and makeup call.

That's correct. 3 am wake up for hair and makeup. Could you do it?

G+ N live in Ho Chi Minh City and contacted me about an early-morning elopement at My Son. My Son is extremely popular with visitors and having a private ceremony before the brigades of buses start arriving means we need to be there at 6 am for the gates to open and make our way to the ruins.

Their elopement was initially them and few people. A few people turned into almost 40 - many of whom flew in from Europe, braving Dubai airport when the place was in chaos.

I was a little concerned about wrangling 40 people onto a bus at 4.45 am. There was no problem at all. Everyone turned up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at the appointed time. It was the bride and groom who were late.

We made the one-hour trip to My Son, grabbed a perk-up coffee and made our way in.

We gathered round and shared a funny and romantic ceremony. What made it beautiful was the friends and family who made the trip. It really was a gathering of a once-in-a-lifetime group. Some of whom told me it would be their last trip overseas.

N + G stayed in the ruins for photos while we returned to the buses. Again, they were late for the appointed departure time. No end of jibing followed.

Everyone was back at the resort in time to enjoy the delicious buffet breakfast, before a short nap, and into the Old Town for lunch and merriment at Mango Mango.

Apparently, it was quite the boozy affair (but you get that with expats).

N + G thank you again for inviting me to share your very special day. It really was an honour.

If you're not daunted by a 3 am start, drop me a line. It's worth it for the surroundings and history.

Thanks to for the images - digital and film.

for going above and beyond with the 3 am hair and makeup

A Contiki tour for the ages.

G+J sat next to each other at the dining table for the Contiki tour welcome dinner in Paris. It was a dinner that would change everything. It sparked a friendship between them - and also a firm group of friends from that Contiki trip that have since traveled much of the world together. Including the wedding.

They'd planned to have the wedding in Thailand - but when they heard about their aunt's wedding in Hoi An (also one of my couple's - small world!) they thought - why not.

Using Google Maps and a keen sense for the unknown, they planned an unforgettable wedding. Sixty people flew in from all corners of the world - some of whom needed to get their very first passport for the trip.

It was a pleasure to officiate and MC their wedding breakfast. (They live in the UK so I'll use the fancy UK terms.)

If you need a celebrant for your international wedding in Vietnam (or Asia generally), get in touch. I love good natter.

Cheers

Leanne

"All we had to do was show up."

I was delighted to hear D say this as J started having her hair and makeup done for their elopement in Hoi An.

They're busy people and they chose the River Retreat elopement package because they didn't want to worry about stuff.

On the day, we came to their hotel, and they relaxed while our hair and makeup artist made her magic.

When they were ready, we travelled to the venue where we held a very personal and private ceremony in the garden before they wandered down to a unique boat setting for charcuterie and champagne.

With bellies full of bubbles and macaroons, we headed into the Hoi An, Old Town for sunset photos.

When they'd had enough of "cheers-ing" for the camera, we delivered them back to their hotel, where they could prepare for their evening.

When we created our elope packages, my goal was for couples to say, "Yep, I want that. I don't want to worry about anything or arrange anything."

So I was delighted when D said almost those exact words.

This package is our River Retreat. It includes:

❀ hair and makeup at your hotel
❀ a floral arch, a bouquet and buttonhole flower
❀ 4 hours of photography
❀ a garden ceremony
❀ a luxury picnic with French champagne (the real stuff).
❀ Oh, and me.

It's 2999 USD.

If this sounds like you, drop me a note. I'd love to chat

thanks for the gorgeous images
for the hair and makeup (stunning as always
for the background logistics

This love fest brings tears to my eyes when I look at the photos...B+P flew their kids and their grandkids to Vietnam to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary.

Aside from the whopping 40-year milestone, P recently had to get a new wedding ring, so B decided she needed a new one too - and they needed the new ones blessed with their love and "thus far" experiences - before building on their marriage with the new ones.

Never one to let a good love story go uncelebrated, we whipped up a hair and makeup artist, flowers, a photographer and a gorgeous private dinner under the stars overlooking the beach.

Over 40 years B+P have enjoyed the highest of highs and the lowest of lows - surviving two of their children (nothing worse - awful).

It was a privilege to help them celebrate their marriage, their new wedding rings, and throw a party together for everyone ###

Here's to you, my friends. Forty years is massive in anyone's books - and you're still loving each other like you met yesterday. Kudos!

Sometimes the most meaningful celebrations are the simplest ones. If this looks like you, get in touch.
