What exactly is Lumpia?

When Chef Cynthia lived in Hawaii she was introduced to lumpia at every party and potluck. It is a kind of Filipino egg roll that the Hawaiians had adopted. Cynthia learned to make them from her Filipina neighbor and has made them for decades. When she opened Parsnipity Cafe, they were a big hit. The kitchen staff started playing around with other fillings, wrapping macaroni and cheese, cookie dough, pulled pork and everything we could think of. They were all delicious so we decided to host an event with ten savory and ten sweet lumpia and call it LumpiaPalooza. When we sold 1000 lumpia that day we knew we had a hit on our hands and planned to open a food truck. Typically, the food truck has a menu of five savory lumpia and three sweet lumpia. We customize the menu for each event, even making signature ones to honor certain events. We also have a special where one can order one of each kind and there is a full meal with lumpia and fried rice.
