🎧 When God Orchestrates His Playlist Even on Vacation 🎧

This past week, my family went on our annual vacation to Branson. However, even while we were enjoying some rest and relaxation, DJ mode managed to kick in thanks to two empty seats smack dab in the middle of our row on the Showboat Branson Belle.

Once we sat down, all six of us got settled, placed our orders, and started eating our salads, but those two seats next to me still hadn’t been filled. I started wondering if I might have a little extra wiggle room for the evening. About 10 minutes before we set sail, a young couple arrived and sat down. Right away, I had a feeling they might be on their honeymoon.

I struck up some conversation, and sure enough, it was their honeymoon. I asked a few general questions about their reception, and while they answered politely, their responses about the DJ were short and vague, as if there was more they weren’t saying. As they got their salad, I leaned over and said, “I don’t want to intrude, but I thought I’d mention I’m actually a wedding DJ back in Wichita.” That’s when the bride’s eyes lit up and she said, “Okay, I have a lot of questions for you in just a little bit!”

When we talked again, she opened up about their wedding DJ experience and it became clear that their DJ’s priorities weren’t in the right place. Their special night ended up feeling more about him than the couple, which led to a lot of mishaps and missed opportunities to truly enjoy their time with friends and loved ones. While I didn’t want to bring up sad memories during their honeymoon, I felt honored that they felt so comfortable confiding in me the way they did.

Before I knew it, DJ mode was fully activated. I took some sunset photos of them out on the deck, showed them around the boat, and then let them enjoy their evening. That little connection sparked something special. We later discovered we were going to the same show the next night, David. After that show, we met up again, talked more, discovered we were all believers in Christ, and even made sure to get a picture together before saying goodbye.

It’s amazing to think how two people from completely different states, Kansas and Wisconsin, could have a moment like that, connecting over shared experiences, faith, and even a little redemption for their wedding story.

God orchestrates even the smallest details, right down to two empty seats, to connect people at just the right moment. His playlist is always perfect, and it always plays on time. ❤️

When Professional Blurs the Line with Personal:

You know those moments in life when you just have to stop and say, “Okay, this is too good to be a coincidence”? Well… I just experienced one of those moments. And honestly, it still blows my mind every time I think about it.

As a wedding DJ, I had what started as a standard consultation this week with one of my August couples to go over their wedding details. When trying to figure out a location to meet up, we figured out after some questioning that they actually live in the cul-de-sac right behind me. I hadn’t realized that until a couple of days ago, so we decided to meet at my house since it was convenient for both of us.

Toward the end of the meeting, my family came home and my kiddos immediately wanted to talk to them, especially when the couple mentioned they had a couple of dogs. My kids started chatting about the pets in our house, our dog Kooper and our pet turtle Krush. They practically begged me to tell our guests the story of how we lost Krush for a short period of time back in October 2023.

On that fateful day, I placed Krush on the ground in the front yard to sunbathe while I was getting ready for a wedding. While I was outside, he didn’t move at all and just basked like he usually does. At some point, I went back inside and got sidetracked. About ten minutes later, it hit me that Krush might still be outside, but I didn’t worry too much because Jaxon had been checking on him earlier too.

When I finally went out to bring him in, he was gone.

I looked everywhere and couldn’t find him anywhere.

And remember, I had to leave soon after for a wedding and I was just devastated. My son was in tears, not knowing whether we would ever see our first family pet again, and honestly, I was in the same boat too. But I did what I could and put on a game face that night.

It was such a hard day, and over the next three days we kept searching, hoping we would find him. Thankfully, on the third day, we finally did, but I never really knew how he ended up where we found him or how he stayed safe.

After I finished telling the story, the bride-to-be smiled and said something I’ll never forget. She said, “That’s funny. Not long after we moved in, I helped a box turtle off the road and into a safer spot.”

At first, she thought it happened in the summer. But once I reiterated that Krush went missing in October 2023, she pulled out her phone to check, and sure enough, she had video proof of the rescue.

It was October 2023.

It was Krush.

Without even knowing me yet, she had saved our family pet’s life and captured it on camera.

And yes… she sent me the video proof too. 😅

What might seem like a small thing to others meant everything to us. This wasn’t just about a turtle. It was about hope and about seeing God’s hand in the little details of life. Moments like this remind me that coincidence doesn’t even come close to describing it. You never know what God is doing behind the scenes, carefully working all things together for good.

Once again, God is truly a finder of lost things.

I am forever grateful and I believe that we are now connected with this amazing couple in a way that goes far beyond professional (in a very good way, ☺️) .

As professionals, we don’t often talk about the moments when things go wrong — not because we’re hiding anything, but because we respect the trust couples place in us.

We know these moments are sacred. We prepare, double-check, triple-check — and in nearly 10 years of DJing weddings, that preparation has carried me through beautifully.

But sometimes, despite all the planning, life throws challenges you can’t predict.

Last night was one of those nights.

There were a few technical issues during the ceremony that were noticeable — and behind the scenes, additional challenges surfaced during the reception that, thankfully, were never seen by guests.

Moments like that test everything: preparation, patience, calmness under pressure, and ultimately, faith.

But by the grace of God, quick thinking, and keeping the focus where it belongs — on the couple and their guests — we were able to protect the experience.

- The bride’s entrance was beautiful.
- The ceremony was meaningful.
- The reception was full of laughter, dancing, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Endurance mattered.
Perseverance mattered.

And at the end of the night, a generous tip was given (never expected, but always appreciated) — a humbling reminder that success isn’t defined by perfection, but by the heart and resilience we bring when it matters most.

If you’re a future bride or groom reading this, know this: You will be taken care of with the absolute best I have to offer.

Not just during the smooth moments — but especially if unexpected challenges arise.

You’ll have someone in your corner who is battle-tested, steady, and who will treat your day with the same care and commitment as if it were my own family’s.

Perfection is never guaranteed.

But heart, endurance, and genuine care always will be.

I’m grateful for the trust, for the lessons, and for the reminder that even on the hardest nights —
God’s grace is more than enough.

I promised myself that I'd post on here more often in order to highlight some of the amazing moments that I have the privilege to provide for all of my couples, 😁. What a better way to do that than with the grand entrance from my latest wedding (08.10.2024 at Gooseberry Creek). This entrance had at it all: upbeat vibes, praise & worship, mini 🐴's, and a warm reception of the bride and groom (Literally gave me goosebumps the entire time). Thank you Leah Findley and Parker Findley for such a fun memory!!!

Hey everyone!

I know it's been over a year since our last post, but things are still as busy as ever, 😎. We had another successful event this past weekend with one booking during the Wichita Bridal Expo at Century II, and we're very hopeful more will follow within the next week or so!

Next up: We're excited to announce that after several years, we are introducing a brand new "Ultimate Party" package to the public: the Stellar Wedding Edition. It took lots of thought (and several prayers), but it was very well received by those I talked to this weekend. I have total confidence that it will be very beneficial in the immediate future.
