BONE STOCK COMPACT DEMOLITION DERBY RULES 2026 ---ALSO YOUTH COMPACT RULES
*** Bump and Run class July 10th rules****
2 class breakdown:
Regular Adult Class Youth class 13-17 years old
This is considered a bone stock/gut-and-go class. These cars should easily be built in a day or two. If you spent more than that, your car may be overbuilt for this class and may not be allowed to run!! Please read these rules thoroughly. This is the maximum amount you can do to your car. Please take note, I would take advantage of the front bumper rule for this class. If it doesn't say the rules, it's a no.
**Youth class ages are 13-17 years old.. Must have a parent or guardian co-sign waiver and entry form day of the show. No passengers allowed. Strongly encourage that youth have a major part of the car building.
1. Any passenger car 110.5" wheelbase (hub to hub) or less FWD or RWD- PT cruisers allowed.. No AWD.. (NO trucks, minivans, AWD, SUVs, no HHRs) If rear wheel drive must have a stock (factory) drive shaft.
2. All cars must be stripped of all glass, trim, remove air bags and any trash must be cleaned from the car. Remove any potential fire hazards. Dash can remain if all loose material is removed. All air bags must be removed.
3. HOOD & TRUNK.You are allowed 4 spots no larger than 3/4" bolts with washer no larger than 5" diameter or doubled 9 wire looping through the hood and fender/core You are allowed to go and attach to the frame at 2 spots at core support only. The other 2 spots are to sheet metal to sheet metal.You can weld the bolts on with no additional metal.. Trunk lid maybe tucked 50% and bolted down in 4 places using either 3/4" bolts or 9 wire in trunk lid and back fender lip- Nothing to frame.. sheet metal to sheet metal.. You are allowed X2 additional spots of 9 wire from front bumper to hood and rear sheet metal to back bumper.
4. You can have only 1 --- 2” weld (2"x2" strap max) on the passenger doors or rear wagon gate (only in 1 location per seam. In addition, you can have x2 spots of doubled nine wire or 3/8" chain will be allowed to keep the car doors shut. Drivers door can be reinforced and door seams welded shut for safety, external reinforcement can not exceed 6” past the front door seam or 6” past the back door seam, material can’t be more than 8” wide if placed on outside or have sharp/blunt edges. Absolutely no outside reinforcing of the passenger and rear driver’s door will be allowed.
5. You can have up to a 6” diameter dash bar or sq. tubing a rear seat bar, and a 4-point floating cage with halo welded securely. No kickers to the floorboard or to strengthen anything else in the car. This is a floating cage welded to the door post and doors.. Can not touch the floor pan and can be no further back than 6" from the front door seam post.
6. 12” diameter fire suppression hole is required in the hood of the car. You are allowed (4) 3/8” bolts around the cut hole opening.
7. The gas tank must be relocated to the back seat area of the car, unless the stock gas tank is located in front of the rear axle of the car then you can run the factory gas tank under the car. You must have the gas tank covered or wrapped with a heavy piece of rubber material. The inside gas tank must be secured properly no more than 5 gallon tank no plastic tanks.. No bungee cords or ratchet straps use metal strapping to secure. Recommend attaching the gas tank to the back seat bar. You can have a gas tank protector but it must be at least 6" away from any sheet metal.
8. Motors must be stock for that car and be 6 cylinder or smaller. You can chain the motor down in x2 spots. I realize that motor Mounts frequently break on these cars, welding will be allowed on the motor mount bracket, material cannot be wider than the motor mount factory bracket. Spray foam is allowed to protect computers and wiring harnesses.
9. No welding on the car other than what’s been stated above. NO EXCEPTIONS! A pre-ran compact will be allowed (4) 4” x 4” and ¼” thick plates. The car must show damage or plates will be removed. 4 plates total per car.
10. No tr**ny coolers allowed. Headers pipes are allowed. You can cut the exhaust off under the car at a point of your choosing, please aim away from the gas tank.
11. Front bumper: You can have a 3”x3" piece of square tubing or round pipe welded to the bumper brackets or frame. Tubing or pipe MUST remain straight across do not shape or create a point, recommend 45 each end/corner to width of tire. To prevent blunt edges. It can be no thicker that ¼”. You can use a non-loaded factory car bumper welded to the factory brackets or frame. This bumper can be seam welded with no additional metal, except for a 4”X6” by ¼” plate to the front side of frame or backside of the bumper to square the bumper up for mounting purposes and additional 4"X6" by 1/4" plate can be welded on the side on the frame rail or top/bottom frame rail to help with mounting. No homemade front bumpers or replicas.. Only the two options above are allowed. Back bumpers must remain factory and stock for the make/model.
12. Tires can be tubed. No foam filled or double tires allowed. All wheel weights have to be removed from wheels. Tires need to be 16” or smaller. Multi-center wheel pattern welded in are fine. No lip protectors or valve stem protectors will be allowed. Skid tires will be allowed.
13. Battery is to be moved to the front passenger floorboard of the car. Battery is to be covered with a heavy piece of rubber and secured properly. No bungee cords or rachet straps.
14. You must have a doubled piece of nine wire or up to 2” piece of sucker rod/flat strap from the car roof to the car dash for front windshield area protection.
15. Trunk lid maybe removed or tucked no more than 50% of trunk lid and must still be on hinges.. Body creasing and shaping allowed from behind the rear doors to back bumper only. Trunk lid must remain up to 50% tucked and in factory position on hinges if not removed completely. Do NOT pre-fold or crease any other front fenders, doors, etc. Repeat ---Behind the rear doors to the back bumper only.
16. Suspension components almost remain stock for that car with No alterations except what is stated. You will be allowed one or the other not both. For front struts to gain height on old worn out struts you will be allowed either option #1 strut spacers or option #2 you can tack weld your strut that the base of the rod shaft to the top of the shock tower to gain height or you can weld cut in half washer for more surface area but No other added metal.
17. You must have a visible name and number on the sides and roof of the car.
18. Seat belt is required and drivers must wear a DOT approved helmet and eye protection. Protective clothing is recommended (i.e. no shorts). No passengers allowed.
