Hello Driftless Region Community Members!
Here's a bit of hard truth: the Friday Night Market is NOT getting the support we need. We're not sure why, but folks from Westby and surrounding communities do not come out to shop the market.
The vendors and I have tried to figure it out, but are just stumped.
So, I am reaching out to YOU for feedback.
📌What would you like to see at the market?
📌Have you attended? What did you like/dislike?
The market originally ran 6-9pm, and we've since moved it to 3:30-7;30pm.
📌Is there a better time we could be open to accommodate shoppers?
📌How can we improve the market to gain the support we all need and deserve?
Several vendors have dropped out the market because it just didn't makes sense financially - 8 of 18 vendors have backed out.
When I started, I was excited to contribute to my community. To give us a space to mingle, meet-up, and hang out outside on a summer eve. Borgens Cafe even got on board and agreed to be open special hours to serve food. It felt good to see folks come together to try to breathe life into this new event.
But its become a tremendous disappointment and burden on my heart. and I know the vendors feel it too.
At this rate, I am not feeling motivated to coordinate a market for next year. It just doesn't seem worth it. I hope things turn around, but I am losing faith in people.
NOTE: Feedback must be constructive, actionable, and kind. We are all working very hard each week, during rain, wind, heat, wildfire smoke and other elements to bring you fresh produce, baked goods, handmade crafts, and unique items.
We put out literal blood, sweat, and tears into everything we do and will not invite rudeness, cruelty, or bullying into this thread.
👀I see the rude anonymous posters on this and other community pages...don't think it goes unnoticed. You know it isn't right, otherwise you'd put your real name and face out there. Its easy to be a bully when no one can hold you accountable. 🤨
Thanks for your help.
