My name is Christine Morrow, and I have been a board member for approximately four years. It has been a wonderful experience, and I am truly delighted to be part of the planning of the new
Heritage Center at Duportail. Having lived in Tredyffrin Township for over 30 years, I feel a deep connection to the community and its history. I believe it will play an essential role in
preserving that history and serve as a place for the community to learn, gather, and stay connected to its roots.
When I’m not volunteering, I spend much of my time painting, writing, and working on creative projects. My work has been carried in boutiques and museum shops along the East Coast,
including the Philadelphia Museum of Art gift shop, the Brandywine River Museum gift shop, Valley Forge Flowers, Merion Golf Club, and Colonial Williamsburg. Most recently, I have been
designing a collection of children’s games, with four currently in production.
My husband, Mark, and I raised two sons who are now 31 and 36. I homeschooled them at a time when it was far less common, and it became one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
Together, we traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe, creating memories
we will always cherish.

Welcome Marianne Hubbert - our newest Board of Director Volunteer!
I retired three years ago from my position as head horticulturist for a private estate in Fort Washington. I live in Wayne with my partner Henry and Brooks the dog.

I started to volunteer at the Duportail House just recently after the President of the Board, Rich suggested I become a board member after meeting him this past fall.

I have always had a passion for reading about our countries history especially throughout the Revolutionary War era. Becoming a part of this history by being a member of the Duportail House board, is both exciting and fulfilling for me especially as we prepare for America's 250th!

When I am not volunteering here, I am an active member of the Covered Bridge Garden Club. With my knowledge as a horticulturist, I have gotten involved with the planning and ex*****on of a pollinator garden which coincidentally is located on the grounds. I also spend time with my two grandchildren ages 1 and 5. I spend the summer at the shore where I volunteer at the Beach Haven Historical Museum.

You often hear Jim saying... "I have volunteered at the Duportail House since 2016. The best thing about my volunteer experience has been telling people about General Duportail. I love to tell stories, and, fortunately for me, the General has a great story to tell. He was a Revolutionary War hero, an inspiring commander and founder of the US Army Corps of Engineers. I look forward to telling more people about him at the new Tredyffrin Heritage Center at Duportail House.

Twenty-seven years ago, one of our dedicated board members stood on the historic grounds of Duportail House and married the love of his life. Surrounded by the beauty of the estate and the rich history of Chesterbrook, their wedding became part of the ongoing story of this remarkable place.

For our board member and his spouse, Duportail House isn’t just a historic landmark—it’s where their life together began. 💍

As we celebrate their 27th anniversary, we’re reminded that preserving historic places isn’t just about protecting the past. It’s about keeping these spaces alive so they can continue to host the memories and stories of generations to come.

A $350,000 capital campaign is underway to complete renovations before America’s 250th anniversary in 2026.
