Performing magic for River Hills School in Cedar Falls today. Last time I was here, I did two shows in their cafeteria. This year, to help celebrate the graduating class of 2026, they moved me to the gym.

Does this count as my first stage show??? Is this what it means to "make it"?????

As Leonard Bernstein said, our response to violence should be making music more intensely, more beautifully, and more devotedly than ever before.

The last month has been a whirlwind of violence, heartache, and fear. I wrote this last Tuesday and finally found a quiet spot to record it. I share this with you if you are still trying to navigate all of these complex feelings.

An interesting challenge for me as I prepare for a magic show at River Hills School in Cedar Falls -- how do you put on a fun and engaging show for students with various developmental and intellectual disabilities?

The answer I came up with was to dip back into my clowning days: a fully-choreographed show to music! Two shows today, wish me luck!

Hi friends,

This page has been pretty quiet because it's been a whirlwind couple of years. While things aren't totally settled yet, I feel like I'm in a pretty good place right now to say hey and that hopefully by this summer I should be available for gigs and performances.

If you want to help welcome me to Northeast Iowa and the Cedar Valley, I won't say no! I'm available for hire as a musician: I'm a singer-songwriter, cover artist, and am open to jumping into different bands that need someone to fill in; I'm a magician, primarily close-up and parlor shows, but would love to do more strolling magic and private events like weddings or dinner parties; and I'm available for acting/emcee gigs (people think I'm pretty funny).

I'll also welcome tips and leads on any open mics in the area! Having a kid means I don't get out much, but if something's happening I'll do my best to be there.

My goal this year is to have a legitimate website. Help me make this a possibility by keeping me reasonably busy.

If you're out and about in downtown Cedar Falls today, you may see a familiar face...

I spent the day driving around Waterloo-Cedar Falls hanging up fliers in bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and libraries. If you see one, I would *love* if you snapped a picture and posted it in the comments below.

I still have plenty of fliers, too! If you would like to hang one up in your space, or have a few to hand out to friends and family, let me know and I'll come and personally deliver it to you.

Last week I was thinking about that time I had a song included in an episode of the podcast Welcome to Night Vale, and as I went back to my SoundCloud and saw a couple of covers of the song, I noticed a lot of "Spotify where?" in the comments.

It's incredibly exciting for me to finally "release" my "hit single," and I have a few more songs that have been recorded throughout the years that I plan on releasing soon.

Life comes at you fast, and one thing that I've learned is that it's important to hop on and trust where life takes you.

Later this month, Life is taking me to the Cedar Valley in Iowa, where I have taken on a temporary professor position at my alma mater, Wartburg College. It will require me to relocate to the Waverly/Waterloo/Cedar Falls area for the 2022-2023 school year, meaning that my availability for Champaign-Urbana events ends, temporarily, on Saturday, August 20.

IF YOU ARE IN THE CHAMPAIGN-URBANA AREA: feel free to book me for my last music and/or magic performance for a while! I love this community and it hurts my heart a little bit to be leaving for the school year. Thank you for the amazing opportunities I've had so far. I hope to be back soon.
