👻 Help Make Mardi Gross Extra Sweet! 🎃🍭

The Friends of the Silas Bronson Library need your help stocking up on candy for one of Waterbury’s sweetest fall traditions! Every year, kids from across the city enjoy the library’s annual Mardi Gross celebration, and we want to make sure there’s plenty of candy for everyone.

THE COMEBACK: An Inspiring Evening with Dara Torres12-Time Olympic Medalist. Former World Record Holder. Five-Time Olympian.

Join UCONN Health's Waterbury Hospital and the Greater Waterbury YMCA for an evening built around one idea: it is never too late to come back stronger. Dara Torres has spent a career proving that comebacks are not just possible, they are powerful. At 41, she proved age is no limit, earning an Olympic medal later in life than any swimmer before her, and her story of resilience, discipline, and refusing to be counted out has inspired athletes and everyday people alike. On November 5th, she brings that story to Naugatuck Valley for a night of connection, reflection, and community.

Join us for the Carriage Shed Rededication Ceremony on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at 349 Wolcott Street, Waterbury, CT 06705.

This special event will celebrate the restoration and preservation of a treasured piece of Waterbury’s history. Attendees will enjoy a brief presentation on the history of the Carriage Shed, remarks from Mayor Paul K. Pernerewski Jr., and the official rededication ceremony.

We look forward to commemorating this important landmark and honoring its place in our community's heritage.

It’s that time of year again!

The Pink Out Day Press Conference will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at the Waterbury Fire Department Station 10, 26 Field Street at 11:00am.

Pink Out’s goal is to raise funds, promote awareness, and ensure the community that our facilities have the resources to provide breast health services to women in need. 100% of funds raised support the Saint Mary’s Hospital Foundation’s Breast Patient Fund. Last year more than $60,000 was raised to provide free screening, diagnostic, and essential breast health services to more than 150 local women.

We are proud to announce that this year’s Pink Out T-shirt design was created by Waterbury Public Schools student Zoey Bernardini, 7th Grade at West Side Middle School.

Zoey’s design was inspired by her mother, Wendy Marie Bernardini, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2025. Wendy has shown incredible strength, courage, and positivity throughout her journey.

In Zoey’s words, her mother is “strong and unstoppable,” always putting her family first while continuing to work and care for those she loves. Through this design, Zoey honors her mother’s resilience and the inspiration she provides every day.

We are honored to feature Zoey’s artwork on this year’s Pink Out T-shirt and extend our gratitude to her family for sharing their story.
