Still vibing after capturing Arrested Development at DC Jazz and Blossoms. Downtown DC BID brought us in to cover the event, and we handled both B-roll and photos for the night. Sponsored by Words Beats and Life, the energy was real from start to finish.
The rain tried to shut it down, but the music, the crowd, and the vibe pushed through. Moments like this are why we do what we do. Hip hop has always been about storytelling, and so is our work. Whether it’s through movement, lyrics, or the lens, it’s all about telling the story with intention.

I don’t believe in chance encounters. I don’t believe in accidental meetings. I believe that the Lord positions us where we need to be when we need to be there. I almost didn’t come on this trip. A few hours before my flight, I was thinking about cancelling but it was late at night and it would take so much energy to go through and cancel flight, hotels, etc so I pushed through the exhaustion and went to the airport. I said if I didn’t make my flight, I would be ok with going back home. Barely made the flight. I know why I had to push through so many obstacles to get here. Sometimes the enemy will keep us from where we need to be cause what we need is on the other side.

Anywho, I’ve been following for years and I was excited to get to her presentation. It was nothing short of amazing!!! I learned so much and she gave so many nuggets on how to build creative sets and really tap into your God given creativity. As an all around hands on creative, this session was good for helping me understand how to tie in all the pieces. If you know me, you know I love to pull out power tools and build and create things for the house. Y’all know I’m obsessed with my plants and I love taking portraits. So this session really put it all together for me.

The day after our session, I got a chance to meet Sophia and she is an amazingly wonderful human being! I appreciate the honesty and candor of our conversation about being creatives, being wives, being PK’s, the fertility journey, and having supportive husbands while doing your thing as a creative and business owner. The convo was so good, I had to come back to my room and just take a minute and give thanks. In this season of life as things are shifting, our conversation really helped me to develop a strategy to “find my why” and how to approach the next phase of this journey. I’m thankful! Thanks for taking the time to chat with me and giving me just what I needed

📸📸 To be a Black woman in spaces like this, at a moment like this, is to feel both the weight and hope of our history.

I took this photo at the Harris Campaign concession speech at Howard University. Surrounded by the symbols of a nation we continue to push forward, I’m reminded of the journey we’re still on. Vice President Harris’s campaign wasn’t just about winning; it was about breaking barriers, defying expectations, and showing what’s possible for us, for all of us.

This seat feels heavy, sometimes lonely, because we know how rare our presence is in places like this. But as Black women, we never stand alone. We are here on the shoulders of the women who fought before us, with the strength of our sisters beside us, and with the dreams of the next generation lighting the path ahead. Every step we take matters. Every voice we raise counts. This campaign may not have ended in victory, but our journey is far from over.

Let this moment remind us that though we may feel alone, we carry a powerful legacy, and we are bound together by a purpose bigger than ourselves. The fight continues, and we’re still here, still resilient.

Beye Beignet is proudly owned by two incredible Black women in Baltimore who are making waves—they’re winners of Fox’s Crime Scene Kitchen and have been featured on multiple Food Network shows! 🍽️
