Every time I read those words, my heart breaks. Every time I sit with my Mom, my heart breaks. My Mom, once a bubbly, energetic, spitfire, who was quick to break into a big smile, now mostly sits quietly and we rarely see a smile. Those moments when she does smile are priceless!
People with Alzheimer's and Dementia know pieces of the puzzle are missing and they are terrified. I've looked into the eyes of my Mom when she was in the grip of this this terror and I knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, her terror was overwhelmingly real.
I walk for my Mom. I walk for your Mom, your Dad, your Grandmother, your Grandfather, your Wife, your Husband, your loved one. I walk for every person stricken by a disease that steals their memories, that robs them of themselves. I walk to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s and all forms of Dementia and to raise money to find a cure!
