Fun food fact: red velvet cake gets its name from the chemical reaction between the cocoa powder, baking soda, and buttermilk in the batter, which gives the cake its red color. Later bakers added food coloring which gives it the brighter red you see today. Make sure you include red velvet cake or cupcakes to your next event.

Family reunions have been a part of Black culture since the great migration. This gathering of family members from across the country (often including a cookout) continues today and serves as a tool to reconnect with family, remember our roots, and remain together. We’d like to thank the Sanders-Thurmond family for letting our family be a part of their reunion.

Strangely, the trailer doesn’t include clips of our food. They probably realized how important they are and didn’t want any spoilers. Nonetheless, we are happy to say that if you see them eating in DC and Baltimore scenes, they’re eating our food. If you see a gorgeous plate of food in the background, we made that. It was pretty cool watching the actors eat (pretend in some cases) our food. They need a new Emmy category “best looking food in a drama or series”. And the winner is…
