1. A Community of Nonprofit Peers

The YNPNdc Facebook group is the perfect place to share job openings, ideas, and meet local colleagues. Ask peers for advice or lend your expertise to young professionals in DC. Read more stories on the blog.

2. Networking Events

Get those business cards ready, grab a drink, and get ready to mingle with fellow nonprofit professionals. Attend one of our signature monthly events, including Inner Circles, where you can engage in small-group discussions on issues relevant to work in the nonprofit sector.

Through YNPNdc’s Mentoring Program, young professionals have the opportunity to be matched with seasoned professionals in one-to-one mentoring relationships. I imagine this will likely hit home for a lot of folks in this group. The non-profit sector needs to stop expecting people to starve just because they work for a non-profit. Professionals with expertise and experience deserve to be paid for it. Working in non-profits shouldn’t require the support of a trust fund to be a viable option. If you are paying your employees poverty wages while you take home a competitive salary, you are part of the problem.
