Today, October 2, 2026, marks an extraordinary milestone—the 50th Anniversary of Gay Rodeo.

On October 2, 1976, a small group of pioneers gathered in Reno, Nevada, for what would become the beginning of an incredible movement. Fifty years later, their courage, vision, and determination live on in every arena, every rodeo, and every member of our rodeo family and community.

Happy 50th Anniversary, Gay Rodeo… 50 years: what an inspirational achievement for the LGBTQ+ community.

May we always remember where we came from, celebrate how far we have come, and continue reaching new heights together.
