This lovely bride didn’t know what to do with her braided hairstyle but thanks to me paying attention to my hairstylist friends and vendors, I was able to help her achieve a simple braided bun.
When you hire a planner it’s more than meetings and timelines, it’s helping the groom tie his tie, it’s getting scared flower girls and ringbearers down the aisle, it’s also sometimes reminding mom the day is yours and not hers.

This is going to run some venues (and DJs) the wrong way but it has to be said. But before I say what I’m going to say, I have to break things down for you.
There is a difference between a venue coordinator/manager, a “day of coordinator”, and a wedding planner. We are not one in the same.
A venue coordinator/manager - is the person hired directly by the venue to look out for the best interest of the venue. They are there to ensure the space is running efficiently for your event on your wedding day. If the venue is responsible for providing your food and beverage, they will also make sure their team is to handle things accordingly. They are the liaison between you and the venue owner. Their resources are limited.
The DJ/Photographer - they are just that. Their intended duty. It is impossible for them to photograph/dj your event while trying to find the flower girl who ran to he mommy because she was afraid to walk down the aisle with all the people looking at her. Let these vendors shine bright in their lanes. Trust me you won’t regret it.
The day of coordinator- is the liaison between you and all the vendors you have selected for your event. They are typically hired 3-6 months prior to your wedding. They do not plan anything. They are solely there to make sure your day runs as you have envisioned. This is the person who will create your timeline both for the day of your wedding and the production timeline for your predetermined vendors. Don’t forget to hire this person! You need this person at minimum.
The Planner - this person is the Rolodex of greatness. The planner listens to your vision and aligns you with the proper vendors to bring your vision to life. This person often serves as both the planner and coordinator however, it is not unheard of to have two different people/companies working together. Their resources are limitless!
I know. I know. This stung a little bit for some but I will keep unfolding the layers in the coming days. In my years, I have seen some things happen and have heard many tragedies. Stay tuned for more education or go ahead and click that contact button up there to relieve the stress.
