High Five Grant: Our Why
🌟Resilience
🌟Community
🌟Dedication
Hi, I’m Dawn Allen, mom of two, Wedding & Event Planner.
In 2019, I felt the need to do something different, something that would challenge me and make a lasting impact. With the help of my team and friends, we came up with the idea for the in Hampton Roads. Moms who volunteer 💞
What we expected to be a small event for a few hundred people turned into a gathering of thousands, all brought together by the power of cupcakes and community. Our mission is to give children, families, and friends a unique, fun outdoor event and bring people together in support of CHKD, the local children’s hospital.
Creating this festival not only allowed me to push my limits but also gave me the opportunity to teach my boys an important lesson—with hard work and dedication...and maybe a few tears, that you can make anything possible.
For those who know me personally, these last few years have been challenging. In 2022 we lost my husband Ash to cancer. Every day takes strength to keep moving forward, but through this journey, I’ve learned that even in the face of loss, you can still build something beautiful.
The High Five Grant would allow us to continue creating fun, family-friendly, engaging community events. It would help bring people together in a fun outdoor environment, where families can connect, create memories, and support great causes like CHKD.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way. Your love and encouragement make all the difference. 💛 Thank you, & for this opportunity and to my dear friend ChaKeita for your continued support, dedication and awareness of this opportunity.
Thank you to Chkd for allowing us to partner with you and support your ongoing mission. The Virginia Cupcake Festival will be on Sunday, October 13th. Noon-5pm. Visit Virginia Cupcake Festival for more info
