I created Seaside Ceremonies on a whim, simply because the magical feelings I had after performing my first ceremony were so overwhelming, I just knew I wanted to keep going. And it became more than I could ever imagine.
I learned more than just how to write a ceremony, perform publicly, and run a business. I experienced love in the purest forms: a tight gripped hug from a mother, tears welling up in a groom's eyes, a hand squeeze when a lost loved one is mentioned, a cracked joke from a friend to ease the nerves, a trembling lip as they read their vows, a bride's giggle as she's pulled in for their first married kiss. Suttle moments with powerful meaning.
And I began to grow from it: learning to stay present and intentional in the moment, taking the time to celebrate because you deserve to be celebrated, understanding words carry tremendous weight and meaning is something we create, and the importance of surrounding yourself with people who truly love you.
Even when my own life fell apart, I never once felt like love wasn't real or alive. I never doubted that connection wasn't worth it. I'd seen it, time and time again, from hundreds of people who believed and loved and chose one another. It gave me hope.
It's been the most beautiful gift I've ever received.

(In case you were wondering, yes, I'm still performing ceremonies, but it's only about a dozen or so a year. I'm still very passionate about SC and don't think I'll completely walk away from this!)
