Wilma started her own home-based cake business named Wilma's Kitchen. My mom, Sandi Steele, grew up surrounded by the awesome smell of cakes baking and took part in mixing frosting colors and filling bags. Grandma Wilma taught Sandi all the tricks to the trade. Sandi has been creating cakes of her own for any occasion for over 30 years. Growing up, I too helped mom with her cakes and made myself a
vailable for taste testing. I have always admired my mom's talent in creating works of art out of cake. My mom and I decided to take the business to the next level by opening Once Upon A Cake in Beatrice, NE. Once Upon a Cake, LLC made a few business changes in 2020 in order to meet personal family needs and moved to Utica, NE in October of 2020. Since the move, I have applied all the knowledge and creativity that I have gained through working with my mom, Sandi, to work. I am currently flying solo creating cakes for any occasion on my own as my mom has been overseeing all the book work portion of the business. I am a stay-at-home mother of two very rambunctious boys (5yrs and 3yrs) along with creating cakes. My husband, John, is a utility lineman for Norris Public Power District. He makes sure I always have electricity to create my customer's orders! Once Upon a Cake, LLC is a home-based business operating out of a non-commercial kitchen. I look forward to creating cakes for all occasions in surrounding areas such as Seward and York, while still making deliveries back to our loyal customer's in the Beatrice/Gage County area.
