Notes from Wholesalers on Tariff Impacts as of 4/10: "Unfortunately, the President's announcement of a "pause" did not eliminate the new tariffs. His actions did reduce his previously announced tariffs for many countries. But as of today, imports from all countries, with the notable exception of China, will be charged 10%. The Netherlands, for example, dropped from 20% to 10%. Thailand went from 37% to 10%. Colombia and Ecuador, on the other hand, will be unchanged at 10%. Please know that Mayesh and other floral importers have always been faced with duties and have always recognized that cost when we price our products. Before last week, for example, we paid 6.8% for flowers imported from Ecuador. For now, it is 16.8%. Distributors will be forced to incorporate those costs into their pricing until such time that they are reduced or eliminated."

Windstorm treasures. Branches as long as my legs covered in my favorite lichens. The bright green lobelia pulmonaria, or tree Longworth, is an indicator of healthy forests & air. So named because of the lobes that resemble human lungs. Breath deep that fresh air. We have lots of cleanup to do but are thankful to be safe.

Finding inspiration in Normandy. It's such a lush growing ares, which makes my agricultural heart happy. Here we learned so much about the making of calvados from a family who has been growing orchards for hundreds of years and many generations. The intensity of the colors of early autumn, and how green the grass is, were gorgeous. And listening to the work of crop rotation, ages of trees, honey making as a by-product of a healthy, pollinated orchard. It's an area that's been through so much, historically. Such as hiding calvados & food from the N***s, but sharing it with the Americans, Australians, Canadians & English. To learn the history & experience this area in harmonious times was a gift.
