Today we're shining a light on Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly - Cincinnati, OH

"For many, isolation comes with growing older. Children move away, a car wears out and is not replaced, or a driver's license is surrendered. This isolation is compounded by poverty."

Since 1996, LBFE’s Cincinnati chapter has helped make those days a little brighter through friendship. Volunteers visit, celebrate and stay connected with more than 450 older adults across 90+ communities in the Greater Cincinnati area.

Their annual golf tournament helps support that mission, and this year’s event just wrapped up on a high note by raising over $29,000 to further their mission.

Picture 36 teams at $500 each. That’s a lot of payments to keep track of, especially when the golfers pay separately.

Want to give your sponsors a reason to come back next year? Start with your tournament recap.

A good recap doesn't have to be complicated. Four things to include:
1. [TOTAL $] raised for [CAUSE]
2. [ #] years running
3. Thank your sponsors by name and tag them — from the hole sponsors to the putting contest sponsor and everyone in between
4. Save the Date: [NEXT YEAR'S DATE]

Then invite your golfers to join in: “Help us thank our sponsors in the comments!”

Why it works:
•Lead with the fundraising total. It reminds sponsors what they helped make possible.
•Recognize every sponsor by name. Make sure each one gets a moment in the spotlight.
•Include next year's date while the event is still fresh in everyone's mind.
•Invite participants to comment. It's an easy way to keep the conversation going and give sponsors extra visibility.

Timing tip: Post the recap the same day or the next day while the excitement is still fresh. Tag your sponsors, and add a carousel of photos from the day.

5 hole games players still talk about after the round:

1. Heckle hole. Friendly trash talk at one tee box. Just remember: heckle between shots, never during the swing.
2. Furthest from the hole. A contest anyone can win.
3. Beat the pro. The pro hits on a par 3. Get closer and you win.
4. Closest to the line. Straight beats long.
5. Launcher hole. A donation buys a launch down the fairway.

Each one creates an opportunity to give a sponsor extra visibility. Which of these have been a hit at your tournament? Or is there another hole game your golfers love?

Should the best prizes go to the best scores?

Not necessarily! Some scrambles are mixing things up so the fun isn't just reserved for the top finishers.

Here are a few ideas to consider:
• Give the winning team a trophy and save the big-ticket prizes for the auction
• The same prize for last place as for first
• A "Most Honest Score" award

At the end of the day, a charity scramble is about more than the scorecard. It's about supporting a good cause, having fun, and giving everyone something to remember.

Today we're shining a light on Stairway for Heroes. 🎖️

A veteran-founded organization with a simple goal: a community where no veteran stands alone.

Their Veteran Golf Program offers a positive outlet for the mind, body, and spirit. Their V.E.T.S. gatherings bring veterans and community supporters together. And founder Melvin Azofeifa, a veteran himself, is closely involved in all of it.
