Hello friends! The day has come for the last of the season! That being said, we have more produce than ever today!

🌶️🫑-We are overloaded with peppers today (jalapenos, habaneros, pepperonchinis, cornitios, Jimmy nardellos, and lilac bell peppers. We will have bulk deals today on some of the peppers and on our green beans; making it perfect if you are trying to stock up your freezer, stuffing them, making salsas, hot sauces, pepper jellies, pickling, or even making fire ciders.

🍅- We will also have quite a few tomato baskets with cherry tomatoes, and then will also have some Roma and brandywine that may need a little more ripening, or would be perfect for your green tomato salsa Verde or perfect for your fried green tomatoes (the joys of living in the Pacific Northwest and trying to field grow). If you are more traditional with your salsa Verde, we will also have tomatillos (I recently made a smoked tomatillo salsa - sooo good!).

🧅- We also have a lot of cured onions and shallots, both are a staple for us to have on hand and should store well over the next few weeks (when kept in a dark, dry, cool place)!

🧄- let's talk garlic!!! Today we will have Music, Chesonok Red, Crystal Inspiration, Purple Glazer, and Inchelium Red. We will be running a sale on Inchelium Red.

WIC and Senior FMNP programs are accepted, as well as SNAP, and you could double your SNAP at the market with Market Match. We also take cash and card.

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of garlic?
🧄Do you think of the color? Most stores carry white varieties, but theres many other variations of purples and reds and everything in-between.
🧄Do you think of how thick the peel is for storage? Garlic is great now, but some varieties will also store until next spring in the right conditions.
🧄Are you thinking about how easy it is to peel?
🧄Clove quantity and size? What are you using it for and how much do you love garlic?
🧄Flavor? Mild or spicy? How the flavor is fresh, and how it changes once roasted?
🧄Soft or hard neck? Are you braiding your garlic? Although soft neck is ideal for braids, hard necks can also be braided (just like in the picture).
🧄Are you thinking about planting your own? We're only a weeks away from fall planting, which means garlic is usually producing scapes in that June-July window, and ready to harvest in July (here in Whatcom and Skagit Counties).

We love garlic too! We will have a few different varieties available Saturday (perfect for eating and larger heads available for planting).

Just a friendly reminder, we will not be at this weekend's Lynden Farmers Market. However, we will be at the last market on September 27th. If you were hoping to swing by the market, to buy or support crafters and farmers from all over Whatcom and Skagit County, your time is limited. If you're hoping to get the end of the season food preservation push going, we got you (we are actually there too)! Need to stock up on eating or planting garlic? We can help! Thank you for all of your continued support this season! Until then!

September is eat local month! Although many of the farmers that are usually at the market will be on the Sustainable Connections farm tours, we will still be at the market this weekend! We are down to our last two farmers markets for the season. We will have a great selection of raspberries, peppers, cherry tomatoes (which are still super great for roasting with burrata, sauce, tomato jam, and salsa), and garlic. We will also have larger heads of garlic which are perfect for planting if you want to grow your own garlic! Hope to see you at the market!
SNAP, Market Match, Senior and WIC FMNP friendly!

Produce is excellent fresh, but now is the perfect time to be filling your freezer or cupboards for winter; this week we focused on sauces, salsa, and are still hoping to make some raspberry habanero jam and pickled peppers.

We will not be at the September 20th market; which means we are down to our last three Lynden Farmer's Markets! This is a cornito pepper, and it is a sweet pepper. You can use them in any way that you would use a bell pepper. Tonight we're throwing some on the smoker; I would love to make some smoked pepper seasonings. They would also go great in hummus, dips, and soups. They would be great sliced and sauteed for sandwiches and fajitas. You can easily halve and stuff them as well. I love sweet and spicy combos; last year we did buffalo chicken stuffed sweet peppers (and made sure there were plenty for the freezer). What do you like doing with your peppers?
