Italy just became the first country to officially allow larger dogs to fly in airplane cabins, not just tiny ones in bags under the seat. No more cargo holds for our four-legged friends!

Under the new rules, medium and large dogs can travel in the cabin as long as they’re in a proper carrier that fits on the seat and can be safely secured. The weight limit? Just has to be within the average passenger range. Airlines will still set specific requirements, but the national policy now allows it.

Such a win for animal welfare, especially for dogs that get anxious or distressed in the hold. Hopefully this sets a new standard around the world.
