Black & Tan Hall Black & Tan Hall is a cooperatively-owned performance venue that centers local artists, serves food that nourishes the soul, and offers event space.

The Black & Tan Hall is a performing arts and restaurant venue. Established as a worker-owned cooperative, we are maintaining Rainier Valley as a destination for cross cultural arts and education events. With a stage, event space, and restaurant that is both affordable and profitable, the Black & Tan Hall will create multiple income streams for its investors while celebrating the history of Seattl

Utilizing the skills and talents of Seattle artists and teachers, the Black & Tan Hall will be open for business morning, noon and night with all-ages events that draw in the diverse communities of the Rainier Valley. With income from beer and wine sales, food, classes, and live music events, the business will turn a profit while its administration operates through consensus-based decision making.

This week we have a new brunch menu to share with you, a traveling variety show, the next generation of jazz greats, and good vibes curated by our favorite DJs!

THURSDAY 8-10pm - This isn’t your grandpappy’s circus... Sweet Beach Summertime Show is a mix of drag, shark-ballet, Rogers’ and Hammerstein’s Showboat, juggling, the movie Jaws, swing dancing, and the campy beach movies of the 1960’s. Happy hour 5-7pm. Serving dinner 5-11pm. Performance 8-10pm ($20 adv online; $25 door)

FRIDAY - We’re tapping into the sounds, energy, and rhythm that make the West Coast the best coast. Pull up early for happy hour from 5–7pm, then ride the wave as DJ Love Jones takes over at 8, blending West Coast classics with the new school heat that keeps the coast moving. SATURDAY - Named in the memory of Garfield alum and maestro Quincy Jones, Quintessence is a student-led jazz quintet featuring alumni and students from Roosevelt, Bothell, Garfield, and Lake Washington high schools striving to maintain the spirit of jazz tradition and excellence in the greater Seattle area. This Saturday they will be playing a set of original tunes and jazz standards. Happy hour 5-7pm. Serving dinner 5-11pm. Live jazz 7-9pm ($15 adv online; $20 door).

SUNDAY - Come enjoy the new brunch menu curated by along with $5 mimosas and on the sounds! Hosted by .ent and Ent. After brunch we're closing the kitchen and bar but welcome in the Seattle Jazz Fellowship All Ages Jam Session open to all levels and ages of jazz players. Brunch & Vibez 10am-3pm. All ages jam session 3:30-6pm (kitchen and bar closed during this month's session). No cover.

We've got blues, jazz, and soul covered this weekend at the Hall!

Thursday 8-11pm: Hillman City Sway comes to our dance floor every fourth Thursday. Dance lesson 8-9pm. Live music and dancing 9-11pm. All ages welcome until 10pm.

Friday 8-11pm: A soulful evening with saxophonist Medearis Dixson with on keys, on bass, on guitar, and on drums, performing original music for the first time in five years! 21+ show.

Saturday 7-11pm: A unique collaboration of indigenous artists performing a spontaneous spiritual fusion of native soul, jazz, and blues. All ages welcome until 10pm.

Thursday 8-10pm: Come test your knowledge of Funk, R&B and Soul for prizes and fun. Hosted by our very own, Camilo Estrada. All ages. Sliding scale tickets; $10 suggested.

Friday 5-11pm: Same as Thursday and Saturday, the restaurant and bar are open starting at 5pm for happy hour specials. We'll be playing tunes all night as Chef Tay serves up your favorites, including Buffalo Cauliflower, Jerk Shrimp and Grits, and Lamb Sliders. Come experience for yourself what our 5 star reviews are all about!

Saturday 8-10pm: An evening of traditional and original music with the Marshall Family Band. They will bring their eclectic bag of family folk music to Black & Tan Hall for a night to remember. All ages welcome. $10 adv online tickets; $15 at the door.

This week we're open for happy hour Thursday through Saturday 5-7pm with kitchen and bar specials! Full dinner menu will be available during all evening events.

Thursday 8-10pm: Back by popular demand! This Thursday The Elnah Jordan Experience will feature a variety of music, including Josh Rawlings on keyboards, Nate Omdal on bass, Jamael Nance on drums, Medearis Dixson on sax, Owen Thayer on guitar, and of course, Elnah Jordan's vocals.

Friday 8:30-10:30pm: Join Victor Andy Castillo, "El Abogado de la Salsa", as he brings his unique style of Salsa, Timba, Rumba, Bolero and Son to Black & Tan Hall. Channeling his Cuban roots, this performance will showcase the energy, dance, and powerful voice that makes him an artist that you will love to see perform.

Saturday 5-7pm: Join the Hot Piano Club to celebrate American roots piano music including ragtime, blues, boogie-woogie, stride jazz, swing, and straight ahead styles. Players of all ages and skill levels are welcome. At 7pm our doors will be closing for a private event the rest of the evening.

Sunday 10am-2pm: Join us for a soulful morning of community, comfort food, and spirit-lifting sounds. Our Gospel Brunch blends the rich traditions of gospel and non-secular music through expertly curated playlists designed to feed both your heart and your appetite. Free entry, but RSVPs are appreciated.

Sunday 4-7pm: Young artists, poets, musicians and more are invited to take part in Second Sunday Sessions: a writing circle, open mic, and jam session co-hosted by The Residency and The Rhapsody Project.
