Three years ago today—“This Day in Jeff & Rich History”—we had one of those moments you never forget.

Cruising along when BOOM—it sounded like a bomb went off. I glanced in the driver’s mirror and saw the trailer kicked out at about a 45° angle. Not exactly what you want to see at highway speed.

A few things were on our side:

The Good Lord

It was early morning

We were going uphill

Somehow I got it back under control and eased us safely to the shoulder. Rich and I just looked at each other like… what just happened? Or WTF!

Of course, finding a replacement tire wasn’t exactly easy. After a long search, we finally tracked one down and made the 8-hour trek back to a genuinely great guy’s tire shop. Ended up camping there overnight, swapping out all four tires for a matching set, and keeping that oddball as a spare.

Just another chapter in life on the road—equal parts chaos, problem-solving, and meeting incredible people along the way while spreading some good libations from base to base.

Never a dull moment.

This dramatic photo shows the wreck of the USS Oklahoma (BB-37), a United States battleship that sank during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. ⚓🇺🇸

In the top image, the massive ship's hull is seen upside down, its heavily damaged steel frame a testament to the devastating torpedo impact.

The bottom image shows a closer angle, showing rescuers and crew standing amidst the twisted wreckage, struggling to find survivors in the ship's cramped quarters.

The tragedy of the USS Oklahoma claimed the lives of all 429 crew members and became a symbol of the immense sacrifices made in the early years of the United States' involvement in WW II.
