A Surinamese native, she discovered her passion for cooking at a young age, thanks to her chef father.

At 18, she moved to the US and graduated with highest honors from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.

She shared her talents with the world through "Meals By Peggy" in 2016, now rebranded as Merkus Kitchen, an exclusive online private chef catering service.

In 2018, she won a medal as one of the winning chefs at Caribbean Chef Association in Miami.

Peggy remains enthusiastic about her company and its bright future.

About Chef Peggy

Suriname native, Peggy Jenice Merkus, grew up speaking Dutch and fell in love with the kitchen at an early age. Her dad’s cooking ignited her passion for food as a way of bringing people together and sharing ourselves in the most sincere way. At the age of 18, she ventured into the United States to pursue her love for the culinary arts, where she attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, during which she finished with highest honors. Upon graduation, Peggy worked at numerous restaurants in Miami Beach, and began to take on Chef responsibilities at some of the most prestigious kitchens in the city, which ultimately led to being selected for Bravo TV’s “Top Chef Tour” in 2010.

In 2016, Chef Peggy’s entrepreneurial savviness ushered her to launch “Meals By Peggy”, an exclusive online private chef catering service, bringing together her 16 years of experience as a master chef. Her latest accolade came in 2018 when she was honored as one of the winning chefs by Caribbean Chef Association in Miami, thanks to an enthusiastically received presentation.

Today, Peggy’s heart for exciting palates continues as her business expands. Her team now offers an on-demand network of private chefs, catering to highly exclusive events, and private instructional sessions for those with a discerning taste.
