The Dougherty Arts Center’s Works In Progress (WIP) teen interns recently finished transforming windows in the youth lobby into works of art.

Inspired by a trip to the Blanton and Ellsworth Kelly’s art Austin, WIP interns designed stained-glass like vinyl art representing the four seasons and the earth.

The project spanned 6 weeks during which the WIP interns created designs, prepped materials, and installed the vinyl pieces.

The Dougherty Arts Center is currently accepting applications for the Ceramic Artist Residency Program!

The Dougherty Arts Center’s Ceramic Artist Residency Program provides ceramic artists with the space, facilities, time, and professional interaction that will foster their ideas, skills, abilities, and focus as practicing artists. This is a work exchange program where resident artists are expected to create outreach opportunities and monitor the DAC independent study program and open studio hours.

Works In Progress (WIP) is a paid internship program for emerging creative professionals ages 17-19 who are ready for a career in the arts. Join us to celebrate our talented interns as they present their artwork.

Thank you for coming out to the Artist Reception for “Fences & Fields” by Rebecca Pugh, “Dust to Dust” by Heidi Lowell, and “Plants Consumed” by Leila Ali.

Save the date for the Artist Talk taking place on Wednesday, August 6, from 7-9pm where you will hear directly from the artists on the ideas and processes behind their exhibits.

These exhibits are on display now through August 9, 2025.

Join the (multiple) award-winning cast of ¡Escándalo! on Saturday, July 19 from 8-9:30pm for an evening of improvised comedy and melodrama as they weave together a brand new, passion-filled telenovela based on audience suggestions.

Shows may contain adult themes, adult language, and prop weapons. The primary language is English with some Spanish peppered throughout.

Escandalo Improvised Telenovelas is part of the Artist Access Program, through the City of Austin’s Parks and Recreation Department, Division of Museums and Cultural Programs, and the Dougherty Arts Center.
