I said how do we start filling our inquiries and our leads and our inboxes and our funnel on the front side get people interested in us all the way through fulfillment and ex*****on and keeping them satisfied and happy and making sure they understood that we knew what they needed and wanted and so i reached back into the crevices of my brain from years ago and i said when i was planning events when I worked in the hotel as the director of events and I had photographers reach out to me what did I need What did I want to hear How did I feel the confidence I needed to feel in order to pay them money to come photograph for me and make sure that I basically am putting my name on them.

Photographers & Creative Entrepreneurs:

Showing the world what you do is important but I just want to reiterate that there's so many artists that feel like this growth this change this shift it's so much bigger than it really is It's work It takes knowledge It takes experience And most importantly it takes a roadmap roadmap isn't the same for everybody but there are milestones along the way right and so it it's a it's a training of your brain it's a shifting of your mindset and we've said it before and we'll say it again until you believe us all of your couples are clients but not all of your clients get to be or have to be couples yeah and as you differentiate them there's just a different language there's a different presentation there's a different opportunity I kind Kind of feel like I want to tell the story from one of our very first hotels we ever went to visit and what came from it

I like a good motivational saying so here is one that I've always really appreciated from British mathematician Karl Pearson:

"That which is measured improves. That which is measured and reported improves exponentially"

So, this is me measuring and reporting on Hocus-Focus. Our new podcast has been live since May 26 and we just crossed 500 downloads! Now, when you compare that to some of the most popular podcasts out there that may feel like a drop in the bucket but we feel as though the impact we create is more about depth and potential that breadth and quantity. I mean, I would love our little show to get a million downloads eventually but, for now, 500 feels like we are creating a place where our people can find us and rest comfortably knowing we see them, they are not alone and we are holding space for them.

If you haven't checked out the show you can learn a little more about it at hocusfocuspodcast.com (LINK IN BIO), find links to the show on all the streaming platforms and even listen to episodes in a mini player on the site. (yeah, we're that good).

Now, it's your turn. Tell us what you think about the show, our dynamic and even what you would like to see us talk about or teach in future episodes.

Thank you for being part of this journey! đŸ„‚

Have you ever realized you’re basically running two businesses at once—without even meaning to?

Back when we were shooting 20–25 weddings a year, it felt like success. But every year, we’d retreat, sit down, and ask ourselves: do we even like where we’re headed? Somewhere between the wedding grind and those big “what’s next?” conversations, we noticed something most creatives miss—a few of our wedding clients were bringing us straight into the corporate world. Not because of our polished website or SEO, but because they knew us. They trusted us to deliver when it mattered.

That little overlap made us question everything about how we branded, where we marketed, and why we stuck with the old path instead of opening ourselves up to new, better opportunities. Turns out, a simple shift—creating a real space for those corporate clients within our brand—changed everything about how we grew, what we charged, and who we built lasting relationships with. If you’ve ever wondered whether your business is really serving you, or just an identity you inherited, you’ll relate to our story.

Where have your “unexpected” jobs or clients shown up over the years—and did you ever chase that open door, or just wave as it closed? We dig deep into how we made the leap (and why it mattered) in this week’s episode if you want the whole story.
