Before we had brands like Mrs. Kay’s celebrating Black excellence in bridal and custom fashion, trailblazers paved the way!

Meet Ann Lowe—the first Black fashion designer to design a First Lady’s wedding gown! In 1953, she created Jacqueline Kennedy’s iconic wedding dress. But did you know her work was almost uncredited? Despite her talent, she was often overlooked in the mainstream fashion industry.

Lowe didn’t let that stop her. She ran her own couture studio and dressed some of the most elite women of her time, proving that Black designers belong at the top.
