Get organized before you get excited ✨

Being organized is genuinely your biggest advocate, so before you book anything, decide what you need from every attendee and collect it once in one good registration form, dietary needs, rooming, travel, all of it.

Then ask the hotel early what they'll need at check-in, and gather that during registration too 🙌🏼

It sounds small, but chasing 100 people for missing details is the single most time-consuming part of the whole process, and getting it upfront speeds up everything after it!

The best sign your retreat went well? You never heard about half of what almost went wrong 😅

A few real ones 👇🏼

An AV team set our lighting up the wrong way overnight, so we had it redone by sunrise and clawed back 25% of the invoice... the client only found out because we told them a refund was coming 💸

An executive assistant landed in rural France having left critical medication at home, on a Friday, with everything closing for the weekend 😳 After photos of her prescription, a local doctor, and a very kind pharmacist, we had it in hand by 4:55pm, minutes before the doors shut.

That same week, we fought a vineyard venue in Tuscany until they expanded the internet to actually work for 100 people, all before the team ever landed 🙌🏼

None of that shows up in a highlight reel, but it's the whole reason we're on site, and it's the same care that goes into every venue we recommend 🤍

There are weeks this work runs me completely, and then I remember I once prayed for exactly this 🤍

The early mornings, the back-to-back site visits, the invoices and the logistics and the hundred tiny decisions... all of it belongs to a business I dreamed about long before it existed.

Tired from work you love is a very different kind of tired, and I don't want to rush past that.

The hardest retreats aren't the biggest ones... they're the ones where the team has never actually met 🤝🏼

We worked with a company that grew from 2 people to 70 in just six years, and most of them had never been in the same room! Different countries, different time zones, a "team" connected by a Slack channel and not much else.

The year before, spouses came to every evening event, and while it felt generous, everyone leaned on who they already knew and the team never actually connected 🙃

So we changed the whole design 💡 Spouses came for the farewell dinner only, we added nights instead of cramming days, and at dinner people sat with the teammates they didn't know yet.

By the last night? The quiet, reserved CEO was up singing heavy metal at karaoke while strangers showed up early just to keep talking 🎤

“Just send us some options” is where a lot of retreats quietly go wrong 🚩

There are agencies built around advertising a thousand-plus venues, which to me is basically the Expedia of group travel 😅 A list that long isn’t expertise, it’s a Google search with better branding.

Because a database can’t tell you the one thing that actually decides your retreat: how the on-site team really operates 👀 Will they coordinate with your chef and activities team, or leave you chasing them for five days?

We once sent a client to a breathtaking property in Marbella... the most beautiful place they’d ever been, and also the worst-run, most expensive retreat they’d ever had 😬

Beautiful and well-executed are not the same thing, which is exactly why we only send clients to places we’ve stood in ourselves 🤍
