Our favorite tree bloomed…right in time for severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings.

The petals are a little rough around the edges, but still magnificent.

I wasn’t going to cut any tulip magnolia branches this year…

When we had tree work done in September, the company cut off a large branching arm of our favorite tree to drive their equipment into our property. When I realized what they did I was devastated (on top of the shock of what our property looked like when they were finished).

But! The winds of the past two days gifted us with a glorious branch to bring inside and force to bloom. A March tradition I have enjoyed for the past eight years.

I love this vintage green bottle from . It is perfect for flowering spring branches.

After a week of extra cold temperatures and nine inches of snow, the sun is out and birds are singing! I’m planning some garden tasks to complete before February comes to a close.

Also, I could look at this photo for hours! Absolutely dreamy—captured by

Hi! I’m Dana McDowell, owner and designer at CLEMENTINE—a cottage florist and garden-inspired design studio in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

We are so excited for the upcoming growing season! While it’s snowy and single digits outside, we’ve been starting seeds and corms, checking on our stored dahlia tubers, flipping through garden design books and dreaming about all the gorgeous weddings we have booked this year.

Looking forward to sharing more with you from this incredible mid-September day, photographed by the greatest

Winter dreaming is in full swing and I can’t help feeling like I need more clematis in my life!

This clematis is so sweet and I feel fortunate we are able to cut it from a family friend’s garden. I think it’s an older variety—I haven’t had much luck in identifying it. Needless to say, I’m desperate for a plant or two of my own. I adore its simple form—understated and elegant at the same time.

The clematis we do have in the garden has been getting munched on by the deer—this is definitely the year I rearrange a few things…
