Let’s talk timelines! This post is to help you understand when the best time to book is, what to expect for a turnaround, how rushes work & just about everything else you may need if you are thinking about photos with me
When booking a session, I recommend choosing a date within one month of when you would ideally want your photos to be back for a print order to be placed! My average turnaround time is 2.5 weeks not including weekends or Holidays, putting this to around three weeks total. This is a great thing to keep in mind when booking Milestones, Birthday sessions, Holiday photos & just about anything that puts you on timeline
The recommended timeframe for booking a newborn session is before the two week mark. Ideally a baby coming to me would be around 10 days old. This makes your session go seamlessly, baby is still sleepy, enjoys being swaddled, jaundice has had time to taper off & baby acne has not yet arrived! Anytime after this, and your session may not be as easy and you are risking not getting the shots you typically see posted by a newborn photographer. Yes, it’s entirely possible-but typically with extended time and a perfect environment
Now, let’s talk Fresh 48! All Fresh 48 sessions are automatically scheduled with a 24 hour full suite turnaround. These sessions are in and out at the hospital and are done specifically for you to have them back by the time OR close to the time you are discharged from the hospital. These sessions will never need to have a rush fee added. Upon booking with me, this is always the turnaround expectation! I know how exciting it is to announce the birth of your baby, you already waited nine months-I couldn’t imagine making you wait any longer to do so
Now let’s talk everybodys favorite, but hated thing: RUSH FEES. I understand sometimes things warrant needing to be rushed to be delivered by a certain day. I am always happy to offer this as an additional option for my clients, IF I can accommodate the rush. As stated above, everybody who is booking is on a timeline & I cannot accept a rush if it will affect the delivery date of someone who has waited patiently for their gallery. I understand that sometimes last minute bookings are our only option, so I always try my absolute best to bridge this gap for you!
The holidays are sneaking up on us, and Christmas in the photography world starts in September. Make a mental note if you are wanting to schedule for the fall. Christmas cards should ideally be going into the mail the week after Thanksgiving, which means you want your photos done in October or very early November. These dates are already almost gone- if you had photos on your heart this year, I’d reach out now!
