Welcome back to the Bloom of the Day. Today, we are featuring Godesia. Godesia is from the flower species Clarkia Amoena. Godesia is also known as the “Satin Flower” or the “ Farewell to Sumner “ flower. The second is most appropriate since Godesia blooms at the end of spring. Godesia is known for its dainty cup shaped blossoms that have a peppery texture. Each blossom consists of four ruffled petals and eight stamens. Native to Western America, Godesia can be found growing in the coastal hills and mountains from San Francisco Bay Area to British Columbia.

In honor of this Sunday being Palm Sunday, out 2nd bloom of the day will be Robolini Palm. A deep, rich green, Robolini is sometimes known as dwarf date palm, miniature date palm or Pygmy palm. Robolini is a species of date palm native to to Southeastern Asia, China, Laos and Vietnam. The female Robolini Palm produces a fruit called “dupe.” It is a reddish-brown to a dark purple fruit that is similar to a date, but not as sweet.

The scent is released only when leaves are touched to crushed. During the spring and summer, Rosemary will produce small purple and blue flowers. Rosemary is often associated with memory and loyalty. In Ancient Greece, students would wear garlands of Rosemary while studying, because it is believed that it could strengthen your memory and improve cognitive function.
