Sometimes, less is more when it comes to wedding flowers.

We believe everyone deserves beautiful flowers on their wedding day, no matter if you're celebrating with 500 guests or just you and your boo. That's why we never require a minimum spend, and offer a range of wedding design options—from full-scale to self-service. That means you only get the flowers you want, and we don't create any waste.

Amanda and Alex knew they wanted an intimate affair, so we created a bouquet and boutonnieres that complimented their elegant, timeless February celebration. Here's what they had to say:

"We had a very small order: one bridal bouquet and four boutonnieres. Two other florists turned me down (order too small, right after Valentine's Day). But Alex was flexible, delivered flowers to our hotel that morning, and they were perfect."

I may not have a scuba license, but I still had the chance to go under the sea for Bryan & Jake's Memorial Day wedding! 🐟

On a beautiful May Sunday, Bryan and Jake tied the knot with their nearest and dearest at the Shedd Aquarium. Chicago's iconic skyline served as the backdrop for their sunset ceremony, while the Wonder of Water exhibit hosted a reception for Jake and Bryan's family and friends.

We highlighted the couple's love of fishing in every detail — from boutonnieres that included lures to using seashells as our floral vases. Fishing nets and oyster shells offered unique texture throughout the space.

My favorite part? Bryan and Jake's sense of humor shined through at every turn, from a publicly posted "do not play" list by the DJ stand to a Spongebob-themed cake with a "16 years later..." topper that celebrated their long-awaited wedding date.

When I was just a few years out of college and still working in Chicago tech, I was lucky enough to attend a panel discussion at with my work bestie, . During the conversation, CEO Betsy Ziegler shared a bit about her "50x50" — a bucket list of 50 things she wanted to achieve before she turned 50.

Jaclyn and I were hooked. We both wrote our own 30x30 lists (and later, our 40x40 lists). Throughout the years, we've been accountability buddies—checking in and encouraging each other as we try new things, explore new hobbies, and check things off our lists.

Well, delivering flowers to Betsy herself wasn't something I would have even thought to add to my own bucket list, but it's a dream that came true just a few months ago. I had the honor of returning to 1871 not as an audience member, but as a business owner myself—to drop off flowers for a few distinguished leaders on International Women's Day.

I love this city, I love this community, I love women. 💜

You may have been to the , but you've never seen a wedding quite like this.

From the start, Kendall & Scott had a vision: to recreate their favorite Chicago dive bars at one of our favorite wedding venues, . With a black and white checkered dance floor, red uplighting and matchbook favors for their guests, they nailed the look.

We created centerpieces with moody, masculine tones of brown and orange, complete with all of the fruits you'd typically find in a cocktail. Kendall carried a classic white bouquet, which was a perfect accent during their photos at another Chicago institution: .

But the detail that stole the show? A stained glass window pane backdrop for the ceremony, custom-built by Kendall's dad. Can't you just see those windows in the front of your favorite local dive? 👩‍🍳💋

When we were kids, we’d wake up early on May Day morning, collect the first spring blooms from our yard, and drop them off on our neighbors’ porches in handmade paper baskets…ding d**g ditch style. It was a whimsical way to welcome a new season, take a moment of gratitude for the new spring blooms, and bring a moment of joy to our friends next door.

I’d forgotten about this tradition until .simms136 texted me to remind me of those early memories.

While the April showers may be lingering today, I hope you take a moment to enjoy spring, and maybe even gift yourself a little May Day treat. 😉

For the past few years on , I can't help but feel that it would be more appropriate to honor our Irish heritage by marching in the streets rather than drinking in bars. 🍀

Don't get me wrong, I love a good green beer...and dying the Chicago River is a time-honored tradition. But if you know your history, you'll know that the Irish have a lot more to offer us than pubs.

They're a people of resistance and rebellion. They're a people who reject occupation by foreign powers. They're a people who believe that we have the right to be governed by We Ourselves. And they're a people who will stop at nothing to earn their freedom.

So as our American rights are being stripped from us, what better day than today to choose small acts of resistance? Say hello to a neighbor you've never met. Shop local instead of on Amazon. Find an upcoming protest in your neighborhood. Write letters to the imprisoned. Start composting.
