I've come to the realization that I am completely disconnected from pop culture. This seems to have happened abruptly, but in reality, it was a long process over the last 10 years. I listen to music from the 50s, 60s, or 70s. I seek out rebroadcasts of American Top 40 with Casey Kasem. Current music is caustic, unimaginative, and mostly crap. I watch old Johnny Carson episodes. We've binged Frasier, King of Queens, Everyone Loves Raymond, and Perry Mason episodes from 1958 - 68. We dropped our cable and only stream. I'm not unhappy with my choices, but I wonder how many of my peers are in the same place (I just turned 65). Clearly, we're nostalgic for a different era of entertainment.
